GB News (New British News Network)

*Precision I have no political affiliation. I subscribe to no political dogma or movement. I have highlighted this new news channel as a much needed antidote to the partisan news we are currently subjected to. Will it be free from bias? No, but at least we all get to see the extremes of both sides of the political divide. I get my news from an entirely independant team  who are committed to delivering non-partisan, professional journalism. Breaking Points with Krystal and Saagar. It's a fearless anti-establishment Youtube show and podcast with contributors from across the political divide. Their aim is to cut through the media bias. Breaking Points Non-Partisan News & Analysis Precision*

Britain's got a new TV network. The new British network has vowed to fight "cancel culture" and reflect voices not heard in the partisan mainstream media and state-controlled BBC. A spokesperson for GB News said its aim was to "puncture the pomposity of our elites in politics, business, media and academia and expose their growing promotion of cancel culture for the threat to free speech and democracy that it is".

Cancel Culture is the term given to left-wing and left-leaning attempts at suppressing of free expression and political diversity by permanently shaming and ostracising individuals who threaten their political and social orthodoxy.

  • Britain's got a new TV network. The new British network has vowed to fight "cancel culture" and reflect voices not heard in the partisan mainstream media and state-controlled BBC.

    What are those voices ?

A spokesperson for GB News said its aim was to "puncture the pomposity of our elites in politics, business, media and academia and expose their growing promotion of cancel culture for the threat to free speech and democracy that it is".

Oh great, then they will surely be exposing all the tax havens and big business and the privately owned media who don't pay tax on their show on a daily basis ? Or maybe they will do what all right-wing media does, and that is to divide the population, focus on those at the bottom and blame everything on those therefore diverting the real questions and journalism from having to be discussed ?

It sounds basically like The Daily Mail on tv or as someone else has pointed out, Fox News UK and that's the kinda stuff, if it were toilet paper, you wouldn't use.

Of course, I could be converted if you provide a list of all those involved in this shiny new tv network who have spent their lives championing freedom, human rights, good causes or anything that promotes progress in humanity but you can't ?

The best media is funded by the readers/watchers, license payer, local radio etc. Most things privately funded are for the half-whit's.

  • Puff, just one question.

How is all this wokery and virtue signalling working out for you?

The Labour Party has been out of power for over a decade and recently suffered its worst election defeat in its history. Apart from a coalition of hard-core trans activists, race-obsessed cosmopolitan avocado-munching hippies; and non-binary safe-space student snowflakes, how many real people with real life struggles does the Left actually represent anymore? Across the free world, Left-wing parties have been decimated politically.

In Britain alone, despite the entire force, wealth and media propaganda of the Left, the British people voted to leave the EU. It took over five years to leave due to the conspiracy theories of the Left and attempts to overturn the democratic will of the people, but eventually the people triumphed. Do you think the Labour Party can ever recover from trying to overturn the will of the people?

Again, how is all this wokery and virtue signalling working out for you?

  • Have you been removed and sent to a re-education camp?

Or have you been provided with facts you disagree with, and can't challenge?

You can take offense and claim you're being silenced or oppressed or whatever but you're not.

This is what civilised debate is. Sometimes feelings get hurt. You think your views don't irritate me? They do, but rather than say 'read the Independent' or 'read the Guardian' or some other 'left-leaning' publication I have tried to explain to you where you are wrong by providing you with facts and show why you are misguided to follow a man like Andrew Neil.

You think he's on your side but he doesn't live here, doesn't pay tax here, and has a history of false reporting from his long career as part of the MSM, as part of the organisations you despise. He was also a very vocal supporter of war in Iraq, despite never having served or had any interest in serving himself (they call them chicken hawks in the US Military-men who were chicken when it was their time to fight and hawks when it was others they were sending to fight). And if another war begins people like him will be all for it again, but do you think it would be men like him doing the fighting? No. But they'd make a shitload from reporting on the war, I'm sure.

He's a parasite, a leech on society. Just because he's rebranded himself in your favourite colours doesn't make him any less so.

Oh and by the way, he appeared in Epstein's black book, too, but don't let any of this lead you to questioning the man'a character or anything.

You speak of me being close minded but I think you'll find it is you who refuses to diverge from the information you've been given despite being shown that it is flawed.

One thing you can count on. While we're sitting here arguing the toss over it all he's sitting abroad, probably, turning controversy into cash. Your anger and dissatisfaction with society (after ten years of Tory rule, may I add) is his meal ticket, he exploits it to make himself rich and society just that bit shitter.

  • Mykal, what I deal in are facts, as I have provided you. You can argue that I've spent my time in echo chambers but no, I haven't.

As a matter of fact I'm very familiar with the 'arguments' of the likes of yourself. I've been arguing with people spouting the same slogans and mistruths as you, all based on theories usually birthed from youtube channels or obscure websites that got 'silenced'.

You think you're open minded and switched on, above the bs the rest of society swallows from the MSM, but all you've done is picked a more palatable flavour of bullshit, one which appeals to your prejudices and doesn't deal in facts so much as it promotes the kind of people who 'say what everyone is thinking'.

You can talk about echo chambers all you like, but I regularly speak to people with differing views to my own, I have no interest in being part of an echo chamber and have been kicked out of Labour groups for refusing to blindly support the leadership. You can tell me nothing, but it's not because I'm close minded, it's that you have arrived to a battle of wits unarmed, and found that in the face of facts you have nothing but theories and examples of all the leftie baddies from throughout history.

Do you really think they were 'left?' Just because they claimed to be? Judge them by their actions, not their words. Like how Andrew Neil CLAIMS to be proud to be British and something and stuff but he lives abroad so he doesn't have to pay tax here.

    What a patriot.

  • Well, just look at some of the prejudice and aggression behind so many of the comments on here.

If you want to experience real racism, real bigotry, real oppression, try and express a different view in the company of a left-wing activist. If you're lucky, you'll get away lightly by being reported to the state and sent to a re-education camp for dissidents.

    That's if you're lucky...

  • Nexus, is it too much to ask of you to allow over 50% of the population to have a news network that represents their way of life?

Is it unreasonable to give over 50% of the population access to news content and journalistic reporting that reflects their interests and values?

Is it such an egregious step to welcome a news network that reflects the views of over 80% of the population (polling has found that over 80% of Brits are against cancel culture and identity politics).

We are supposed to be living in a democracy where there is a plurality of thoughts, beliefs and ideas. Not a political hegemony where speech is controlled and approved by a political elite and monitored and policed by political mobs.

  • Puff, it's difficult to find common ground with someone whose entire belief system has been formed and amplified in online echo chambers populated with and by those with like-minded beliefs. It's the same barriers one faces when trying to rescue people from a cult.
I also suspect your entire narrow information diet flows through the same political filter bubble. How do I know? I used to be a radical Lefty too. As I matured, through painful life experiences and struggles, I slowly began to see the inconsistencies in the Left-wing messages, the hypocrisy in the left-wing ideologues, and the abject failures by the Left in power to improve the lives of the people they claim to represent. I took a long time, but now I'm free to stand apart from the tyranny of the Left.

  • What, one to replace the one that already exists?  Bullingdon boys, old Etonians, Rees Smaug?

    That sort of hegemony?

  • In fact, the fruit fields are rotto g even as all this is being written. No one to pick them.

My dear mother voted Brex****,  otingbthe horrors of all these immigrants, yet on her last days she was looked after by furriners. Now there is probably no one to wipe their botties and hold their hands.

    [Edited by moderator]

  • OMG. Hope did spring eternal there.

This is even worse than what there already is then from the sound of it.

  • We will be governed by AI in the next 50 years or so, or holograms or something ridiculous. Things probably aren't going to improve.

People don't know what to believe these days...social media fake news etc, nothing can be trusted. Although,  I always say question everything but there does need to be a degree of common sense applied. Also the internet has given rise to people thinking everyone needs to hear their opinion through social media.

The problem is we keep electing psychopaths who hold us ALL down but succeed in convincing the protestors that the ones carrying pitchforks are to blame for the problems of the ones carrying torches. Divide and rule. And it's pathetic how easily we allow them to do it.

    Agreed.

  • It's true. You can't switch on the BBC nowadays without being talked down to, told you're a racist and/or being made to feel ashamed for being either male, white or British. Every news segment, every program, they are all pushing transgenderism, racism or coronavirus down our throats.

I hope this new network will provide a much-needed space for the millions and millions of us who are craving some intelligent, balanced, reporting and are fed up with being patronised and dictated to by social justice warriors.

At present, you have to search and search to try and get access to impartial journalism that reports on topics that are relevant to everyone in our society.

  • Thankyou for your wonderfully flowing eloquent post. My viewpoints exactly. I'm settling nicely into Telford, but Scotland is more and more inviting, despite the weather.

  • Then again they might be just anti Brexit, which is doing very little to benefit anyone (ask small businesses, ask the fishermen) other than s small cartel of super rich. They might be there to question the continuing vilification of so-called benefit cheats in the face of s government that is so full of corruption you can't see the apple for the worms. They might be asking for more better education, health care, taxing Amazon and other exploitative monsters. They might be looking to help bring on a less dysfunctional society.

Actually questioning things rather than farming to toffs like Rees Smugg.

  • Sounds good!

Better than some rich furriner telling people (Rupert. And I don't mean the bear.) how to think.

  • Have you considered researching the information yourself rather than rely on facts and figures provided to you by people with an agenda?

The information I used on which to base my opinion on the effects of immigration on the NHS, for example, came from official statistics, not cherry-picked by the Sun or the Independent or whoever else. It's boring, and you have to decide for yourself what to make of the information, but you can at least rely on it being unbiased.

But I'm sure GB News will do that. They're hardly likely to be liars. Like you say, they're not the BBC. They're just run by a man who worked for the BBC for many years.

    You can trust him xD

  • Whatever the 'real reasons' for social developments brought about by the left (I used to be an Alex Jones/David Icke conspiracy theorist too!) the FACT (not the right wing theory provided by discredited men with books and diet pills to sell-to quote David Icke on Wogan 'if you believe that I've got some sea-front property in Birmingham I'd like to sell you') is that we have things like racial equality, sexual equality, gender equality, mental health equality, the NHS, because of the left. And where they fought for these things, people fought against them. Racial equality, for example, was stood against by the KKK.

You can make the mistake of assuming I'm a commie (funny how often that happens when speaking to people on the centre/right these days) and bring up the failed communist societies and I have to admit, you have me beaten. It's obviously a complete failure, and leads to mass exploitation by a minority of people.

Not like our capitalist societies, where the world's wealth isn't horded by about a dozen families. Not like our capitalist societies where we take care of our people and don't let them die, don't allow a 100,000 plus death toll to happen. Capitalism is great!

I'm not a communist, but since you mention such societies I felt it important to highlight the complete hypocrisy of highlighting their failures as if capitalism isn't responsible for the exact same thing.

To quote Alan Moore (V For Vendetta author) the problem is leaders. Capitalist, communist, it doesn't matter. The problem is we keep electing psychopaths who hold us ALL down but succeed in convincing the protestors that the ones carrying pitchforks are to blame for the problems of the ones carrying torches. Divide and rule. And it's pathetic how easily we allow them to do it.

The sad thing is it's the people who believe the conspiracy theories who believe the bs most fervently, who fall for the lies of the Trumps and the Johnsons and who have been conditioned to fear what they don't understand.

As for the crap about transgender people, that always seems to come up, too. Personally, I'm not transgender, I don'y believe you can change sex. Gender is different. I don't fully understand the science of it because it just doesn't interest me, but people who have actual degrees and credentials have, and they are who I choose to believe, ahead of red-faced potatriots who fear what they don't understand.

I'm left, I don't understand it either. But what I don't want is to contribute to a world in which they're treated like freaks for who they are, or have to listen to language that causes them offense and distress. It doesn't take much for me to keep my trap shut about my personal beliefs on the matter as a COURTESY. Beyond that, I really don't care.

I choose to get worked up about the failures of our government, the death toll, the corruption unfolding in front of our faces while the conspiracy theorists go on about masks and vaccines. 37 BILLION wasted on Track and Trace, run by Dido Harding for Serco, there's a conspiracy for you. If you find something dodgy going on, make sure you report it to the Tories top guy for reporting these things to. That'll be her husband.

But by all means lose your *** over the left/right thing, the masks and unmasked thing, all the distractions. I'll continue trying in vain to actually wake people up to the *** that is going on rather than allow myself to be manipulated.

As I said, I used to be a conspiracy theorist. I've been called a bigot by far left idiots, too. There are extremists on both sides, but it takes those who are capable of meeting in the middle to end wars, and it's sad to see how many people have forgotten that, to see how the battle lines have been drawn, so.

I personally hold out hope Scotland gets independence and I can move there. Whatever made me proud to be British doesn't exist here anymore. We're pathetic, we should change the three lions to three donkeys at this point

  • Gaslighting is done by both extremes. Let's face it I'm lefty right to my core and other people are righties right to their core, it doesn't necessarily mean that I am wanting to open rehabilitation centres to handle the Muslim Chinese people, and take their culture away from them possibly killing them in the process while using them as slave labour, and it doesn't mean that all people who voted for Brexit want to deport all non whites. Words like Woke and Cancel culture are meaningless political jibber jabbers as far as I'm concerned. Yes I am aware of the mistreatment British rulers did to the people in the Empire, including the Irish and the Opium wars supported by the Tory MPs, yes drug addiction was once a Tory policy, That certainly makes me awake. Cancel Culture, well people have always stopped listening to someone who they disagree with, possibly more these days but I doubt it. Watch the houses of parliament and no one listens to anything said by the opposite side, it's pathetic.

  • Yeah, whereas the right carry that flag with pride. And make Nazi salutes and have white pride tattoos and completely miss the point. Their heroes fought against people like them.

You might be interested in the article on Nazi propaganda on Wikipedia, how the *** realised that the majority of the population is not intelligent, not capable of forming a cohesive political position but who, provided with easy to remember and regurgitate slogans (think 'Brexit Means Brexit, Build Back Better etc) they can be given an 'opinion' in place of an informed argument, and won't care whether what they are saying is true or not, only that it's their OPINION and if you tell them they're wrong, you're inhibiting their 'freedom of speech' and take offense, double down on their belief rather than acknowledge that they may be wrong.

An example would be immigration. The right bang on about people coming over here, taking our benefits and abusing our health service. I disagree with that. But, rather than just assume I was right I looked up the facts, and found that, actually, the NHS relies heavily on immigration to provide medical staff and auxillary staff and that it will be MORE reliant on immigration, going forward. Immigrants also use the service less than British-born people. Do they talk about those facts on GB News when they're ranting about the banana boat men or whatever?
