Is anyone else's sleep really horrible right now?
Sleep is never as easy as it should be for me. I took the duvet out of the cover and put another duvet cover inside that, it's just about right and has some weight. I would like to try a weighted blanket but I know the other half wouldn't like that. I also put black plastic window film on the windows, have a thick 'mink' bed blanket and two layers of curtain. I cannot sleep it there's any light in the room. Darkness is the most important thing for my sleep, when it gets really hot at night I'll just cover myself with a sheet.
Yes. But my sleep is always horrible, however the last couple of weeks it has been worse, I think due to the heat and personal stresses in my life (neighbour noise especially).
Last week my sleep deprivation was so bad that I became non-functional during the day. It was like I was drunk. I couldn't remember anything, confused all the time, no concentration, and weirdly many inhibitions disappeared. Consecutive nights of falling asleep after 3am, then 4am, then 5am start to add up.
I've been thinking about trying a weighted blanket because I do find the thicker duvet in winter seems to aid me. But right now I'm too hot, I have the thinnest duvet possible or a sheet and most of the time it's not covering me because I'm too hot, but I find it almost impossible to fall asleep without something on top of me.
Life is on my mind.
I often drop off during the day and night becomes a nightmare.
Day and night become indistinguishable.
I wake up in bed and the clock says 8. It's daylight. Why am I still in my day clothes? Have I slept all night? No it's 8pm. I only had a half hour nap.
awful ,,, i used when young then they stopped --- is there something constantly on your mind?
I wake up exhausted from nightmares.
i have bother waking up i sleep no problem. I am usually exhausted by bedtime.
i have double lined curtains which shut out all (95%) light. it makes a big difference to your sleep if you are in almost total darkness
i have a 12v fan from back of a pc power supply running on a 12v DC transformer. its quiet and keeps me cool. It just sits on my bedside unit cooling me down
At the moment I’m using a lighter weighted blanket with a duvet cover over it instead of duvet with weighted blanket on top, been far too hot with my usual 6kg one!
Yeah, good job we're DINKS with no kids and a 4 bed house, 'cos sometimes I bed hop in the night.
I have two crocheted blankets on top of my duvet. Works like a dream in winter. In summer, my choice is can't sleep 'cos I'm too hot or chuck off covers and can't sleep because there's no weight over me.
Not tonight it won't be. I've read so many boring documents for work today, It'll be like someone took a mallet to my head to knock me out.
Know what you mean though. I often can't get unchecked problems out of my head to let sleep in.
We have a King Size - but I appear to sleep with a starfish
Ok, so it's not just me. I had a thought...hmmm, it's interesting that my anxiety isn't affecting my sleep-at least I have that to be grateful for....then BAM, I've been sleeping really bad for the last 2 wks. We have ac units vs central air....I'm pitta/kapha on auryuvedic if you believe in that stuff. Apparently, June-Sept is in the Pitta state....I find it interesting.
That's awesome to know I'm not alone. I've always slept horribly next to someone. I move alot and need to be able to make at least "a bed angel" moves worth of width/length. I have a queen and he has a full. WHy don't they make super beds??
It's years since I had a relaxing night's sleep.
That's a good idea. I'm wondering how this will work with my partner as well. Hoping we can navigate me having an extra/different cover and not get stuck in a knot at 2am! Haha! :D Still, going to try it and see. Will never know, otherwise, I guess!
I just lie under the blanket if it’s too hot and take the duvet off
We commute between different beds- sometimes go to bed together, sometimes wake up together - every morning is a surprise
My sleep's not exactly horrible, but I find the long daylight hours and higher temperatures at night during summer affect me.
