Misdiagnoses = late autism diagnosis

Hello I’ve been thinking since I got diagnosed with autism a couple of weeks ago at the age of 34. I keep wondering if it was missed though the years and diagnosed as something else when I was a child I was diagnosed with depression I’m pretty sure I wasn’t depressed. One doctor in my 20’s said I got be bipolar I’m definitely not one thing that was diagnosed probably was my OCD even then in the therapy my therapist would ask me questions such as what’s the reason behind you tapping your foot 5 times in a row what are you worried about and when I told her I just do it when nervous/excited she accused me of lying about it she didn’t even think it might have been an autistic stim?

anyone else had these types of experience.

  • I wrote out all my experiences in a long list. All bad ones. I had to try & rationalise the diagnosis to myself, & that I wasn't a ****, as all these experiences have taught me. Turns out, once it's "in" that you are, it's very difficult to get rid of.

    I have a very unpopular opinion of adult ASD that I'll keep to myself. But, if they don't get you in the first 8 years of life, may as well forget it.

  • "Considered" offensive, "potentially" offensive, well that could be pretty much everything couldn't it? I am respectful; I'm not calling anyone a **** directly, I'm using it in conversation, just like millions of people do every day. It's the intent that makes it offensive, & I didn't intend for anyone to be offended, that's on them.

    What about all the other swear words on this forum? Are you going to remove them too?! Because you'll be here for ages.
