Daughter's dream job

My daughter, Chloe, has just finished school, she is 18.

She has been in an autism specialist school for the past 3 years. When she started she had limited speech and extreme behavioural challenges. Now, it is like she is a completely different person. She has great communication skills, her behaviour is amazing, yes we do have tricky times but nowhere as often or severe.

Her dream job since she was little, was to become a teacher or work in a school. Over the years, she has gained an interest in disabilities and special needs, especially children and teenagers. She has an interest in autism and knows a lot about this in great detail.

School have been asking her to become part of the staff team because she knows how it works, to a point, she knows the students, she is very caring and nurturing and has a sense of humour. This has been proven when students have displayed challenging behaviours, and she has been right in the middle of it all, for example, she got punched and her hair pulled when a student was upset. She stayed completely calm and came home and said, "I'm ok. The student was just trying to communicate something and that was the only way they knew how in that moment". She is so understanding and I can't explain how much patience and emotional intelligence she has. She also ALWAYS looks for the reason behind the behaviours, what they are trying to communicate and find ways to help.

She would love to work in her school, from September, part time along with her cleaning job (which is only 3 hours a week) and is filling out the application next week.

I would also like to say, she is going to be selling pecs, visuals, communication aids, etc, on her Etsy shop page, so feel free to have a look over the coming weeks. It is called ParentingSEND
