College

Hi all my asd beautiful daughter almost 18 is struggling at college. Shes on level 3, her tutor is unsympathetic. Her lsa is currently off and has no other support. Ive emailed the coordinator at college this morning. Feel so helpless as shes trying so hard. She started college during her gcse year. Did her exams and passed level 1 with a merit. She needs support to apply herself.

Parents
  • Colleges in the UK as long as the "disability" is documented, they cannot discriminate and MUST provide reasonable adjustments, the college should have someone you can talk to and i would also consider levying a complaint to the college about her tutor if she is being unsympathetic and / or discriminatory due to her condition.

Due to this being a lawful merit, they will be hard pressed to reject any support especially since disabilities are a protected characteristic in the equality act.
