assstance dogs?

hey do any of you have any sucess with assistance dogs? in northern ireland

my son is 16 and has finally had is asd assessment after 4 years of waiting and its pretty much a forgone conclusion that he will fall somewhere on the spectrum.

lately things have been very difficult in regards to his mental health he refuses to leave the house, when asked to do so for medical appointments or for example starting community college next week his response is i would rather die ( the next few days then follow with him being sullen and non verbal while he confines himself to his room)

he is saying he refuses to leave the house until he gets an assistance dog so he can go out alone.

is this even a possibility? its hard to find actual infomation on the topic
