Emotions

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice my son does not understand any of his emotions so I was wondering how I can get him to recognise when he is feeling a angry like how do I explain to him when your starting to feel angry? The 2 emotions I want to focus on first are feeling angry and sad as when he starts to recognise feeling angry I can add in something that he could pick up and and then an adult will know because I know he wouldt say.

Any advice would be amazing as I cant think of how to show him or explain it to him.

  • Hi

May I know how old is your son? Also do you get speech and language support?

Visual tools of any sort is a great. If you have speech and language therapist then she can give you ample of material to use in day to day life routine starting from morning to evening. Which has pictures to stick in right place as how are you feeling today? You can act out the emotions and ask him too. Also if he still struggles you can stick for him telling him when he is crying, angry etc. It depends upon child sometimes you have to repeat alot and don't give up hope. He will do it.

You can find books in library and on ebay/amazon browse for emotion cards for autism. There is alot of helpful things available.
