can you get a EHCP if your child’s reaching all her grades but struggling socially and emotionally in school?.My daughter will be 14 next month and has really struggled at secondary school . We went through the process to get her statemented at the age of 5 but she was given an action plus and then again after her diagnosis age 10 but was denied. I feel as she’s getting older things are getting worse for her not better . She longs for friends but they don’t last She is currrently friendless again and sitting with teachers for breaks. She texts me everyday from school asking for help because Her anxieties are so high and she doesn’t know what to do. She can’t ask for help and is now unable to use her card to leave the room . She also self harms at school and home. Does anyone know if this is enough she really wants to go to a school with kids like her so she can be herself and where teachers understand her?
Hi NAS37321,

You can search for schools that cater for children with an autism spectrum disorder on our Autism Services Directory: www.autism.org.uk/directory.aspx
It can help to pass on information specifically for education professionals about autism spectrum disorders. The following link contains information written for education professionals: http://www.autism.org.uk/professionals/teachers.aspx
You may want to contact our Education Rights Service who provides information, support and advice on educational provision and entitlements. Please see the following link for further information: http://www.autism.org.uk/services/helplines/education-rights.aspx
