My daughter is autistic and in year 6. Yesterday 10 mins after lunch she said she felt her period and didn't have a pad on. She asked the teacher if she could go to the toilet and was told no she would have to wait until home time. My daughter said she whispered to her that she didn't have a pad on and it was a female reason. The teacher said she didn't need to know that and she should have dealt with it in her lunch break. She had to go back to her seat and bled all over her chair.
Tbh I would let one of the National papers know.
And speak to a solicitor about suing. Clearly breach of her Human Rights. This is degrading treatment.
About not letting her put a pad on or not letting her go for a wee?
Article 3 protects against: Torture, inhumane and degrading treatment. Just checked. Certainly it was inhumane and degrading.
Particular that regarding the pad and bleeding on the chair. I think it’s Art 2 degrading, inhumane and degrading treatment. You could possible argue sex discrimination as well. After all, girls only deal with this issue.
There maybe disability discrimination issues. Speak to a Solicitor. That’s my advice.
