Private Assessment Recommendations

Hi there,

I am currently on the NHS waiting list for an autism assessment but I fear I cannot wait for as long as they predict.

I am looking into getting a private assessment in Scotland.

Does anyone have any recommendations or heard about anywhere that is good?

Thank you Slight smile

  • you need to make sure the assessors are registered clinicians and there is at least 2 of them. Do a quick google search around your location.

I am from Central Scotland and found one not too far. It was a lot of cash crica £1500 and I was lucky I could afford it at the time.

You could be waiting for years on the nhs which is a scandal.

  • The official NICE regulations say a minimum of one relevantly qualified clinician (specifically a psychiatrist, clinical psychologist or neurologist with autism specialisation) is required for a valid adult autism (ASD) diagnosis. I was diagnosed by a single consultant psychiatrist.
