Current video games/looking forward to any upcoming games

I'm really trying to get back into all my favourite hobbies as a bit of self care, gaming being one of them.

I've been playing The Outer Worlds, Helldivers 2, and Enlisted recently, I'd love to know what everyone else is playing. Slight smile

Also, are there any upcoming games you are looking forward to?

I have a lengthy list of simulator games on my Steam wishlist, ranging from Autopsy Simulator all the way to Star Trucker!

  • I never get to think too far ahead for upcoming games. I'm a parent so have limited free time, plus I have a backlog of games to play that keeps growing, so I tend to wait until a few years after anything comes out before I get around to it. I am looking forward to playing Spiderman 2 eventually though, me and my son loved the first one.

I recently finished Metroid Dread on the Switch. I was actually quite proud of myself for finishing it, I set it to the easiest difficulty and still found it challenging!

Right now I'm playing Psychonauts 2, it's a fun adventure game with a distinctive art style. You get to psychically enter the minds of people you meet, meaning every level is totally unique to their personality and thoughts.

  • My son plays Fortnite but I must admit I've never understood what it actually is.

I remember the days of old where friends would play together on the same console, bunched up together (I'm perhaps showing my age!) It's never occurred to me to play online, so I tend to play more single player games. I do wish that sometimes I could play with someone else though.

  • I will agree with Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I play it with my youngest daughter, the difficulty is pitched well to her, and we enjoyed playing cooperatively to the end of the game.

  • I'm quite new to Helldivers 2 but so far I love it. A genius concept making starship troopers into a game. Wouldn't mind playing helldivers 2 with some people on here. I just joined this community today. Still waiting on the outcome of a report about my ASD diagnosis (to explain my ASD and how I can manage it - I think).

  • it was "stygian: reign of the old ones" i was thinking of, the cthulu one.

its a 2d indie game but its good.

  • GTA 6 is definitely up there!

Are you a big fan of the Final Fantasy series?

It sounds like you might be thinking of Call of Cthulu or The Sinking City? I played Call of Cthulu and it was such a great game, only short, but I really loved the detective side of it.

I've got Crusader Kings III although have only played a little bit of it, liked the idea but it seems like it has quite a learning curve to get past. Either that, or I'm just really bad at it lol!

  • oh and a few isometric turn based rpg games on steam that i have listed recently for me to get in the future.
d&d style isometric turn based rpgs are kinda a genre i like most, they tell stories well while having good indepth systems.

there was a cool lovecraft one i have which has good rpg mechanics as you can gain stress levels and after a certain amount you get a mental illness as a debuff which changes the game a bit. i like systems like that the dungeons and dragons style rpg stuff as it really adds a layer of personal character building especially if they add negative stuff too.

of which crusader kings is also a good series for that, and when you die you play as one of your heirs.

  • well upcoming id say grand theft auto 6 in the long term is the one im looking forward to.

currently doing the ff7 rebirth (remake part 2)
might have a look into the silent hill 2 remake to see if thats any good after the resident evil remakes were awesome.

  • Just been looking at A Hat in Time, that's a lot of good reviews!

I recently played Inside, a kind of side scrolling platformer, brilliant story - only £1.69 on Steam this week!

  • Ah not at the moment, but hopefully I'll pick it up again when I feel better.

  • You will love it then! :-) OW2 also coming soon so have that to look forward to as well.

Haha that would be great! I know they have started doing some DLCs of more mainstream stuff, they've done one of pop music to appeal wot people who don't like metal as much.

Same here, although never really got on with Wofenstein as much, the recent game I wasn't the biggest fan of.

Loving your taste in games! Spent way too many hours on Valheim and Satisfactory, more recently V Rising. Satisfactory had me drawing up factory plans on pieces of paper to get everything organised!

  • Yes! Really liked all the Fallout games, OW has just moved up the list...(finish all the side quests THEN the story :)

It would be great if you could import songs into MH...trying to play along to Slayer..

Loved all the Bioshocks.. waiting for the new Wolfenstein too.

I've played a lot of Valheim and Satisfactory but trying to satisfy my perfectionism makes it actually quite stressful!

  • Nice, got a favourite game you're playing right now?

  • I'm not huge into Fortnite (and not good at it lol) but would be down to play!

  • Are you a fan of Fallout: New Vegas?

If you played and enjoyed, you will very much get into Outer Worlds since it's another Obsidian game.

Story is good, characters are really interesting, especially companions. I think the only downside being it's level based, so a lot more loading screens, but if you can look past that or that sort of thing doesn't bother you then I would really recommend it!

I'm at least 15 hours in right now, but I like to take my time and explore every little bit of the world, all the side quests. :-)

I tried to play Red Dead but I really struggled to get into it, like you said, annoying/slow...

I picked up Metal Hellsinger recently, really good fun for just playing a game and not having to sue your brain lol. Good music too, but I'm biased since Trivium make an appearance.

    Half-Life 3 confirmed? Lol. :-)

Clockwork Revolution looks interesting, definitely getting BioShock vibes. BG3 is VERY fun, but got to be in the right headspace to play it since it's very intense and detailed. I just have too many games on the go right now I can't commit to my playthrough.

  • How is Outer Worlds? It's been on my list for ages.

I'm just finishing RedDeadRedemp2, was really excited to play but it's so annoying/boring.

I've got Metal Hellsinger to play next....looking forward to anything Half life related, Stalker 2, Clockwork Revolution. I will get Baldurs Gate 3 if it ever gets cheap enough....

  • I’m new to gaming. I’d love to make some gamer friends to play Fortnite with or other games.

  • Nothing upcoming, but I'm midway through A Hat in Time and may do Kirby and the Forgotten Land afterwards.
