I love such places, along with railways and trains! Historic places... Nice scenic places!
Not keen on crowded places though. Prefer rural exploring in the countryside!

I am imagining this walk. your description is perfect. a little meditation.
Is a village that was called Horton but also had different spellings such as Hawton, Hortin etc.
Officially it is being downplayed as the local athority have future plans and if they admit to the villages existance no future plans would be allowed, hence even online the village is often downplayed as a pair of fishermens huts etc etc, but if one goes down there one finds the remains of building after building as recent years the sea exposes more and more and while some stones came from shoring up the railway (Hence the slag found from the old industries that used to be in Burry Port), the rest are from the remainsnof the vilage as most buildings are now not recognizable as buildings.
The village can be found by driving on the coastal road between Kidwelly and Ferryside (Worlds first recognosed tourist resort). If one heads towards St Ishmaels church but parks in the dip where these used to be a level crossing access to a slipway down to St Ishmales beach (Pull right in as busses need to pass. If other cars are there there is a small area near the church so one can park there (If it is not conflicting with a sunday service) but ensure there is space for cars to pass each other).
Cross the railway (Beware of trains), and go down the slipway, and then head in the direction of Kidwely past the old WW2 gun bunker (Gun used had a range to shoot vessels right on the seas horizon. Was a massive gun due to the sensitive nature of the area.
Keep walking south east on the stones on the beach in the Kidwelly direction and about a quarter of a mile or more look carefully near where the upper tideline meets the dunes. One will begin to see the remains of hat looks like a very expensive building in its day so it was either the old church or a something of importance. Look at the plants in the garden behind which were only found in ornate gardens. (Rare blue dressed stones of the building remails etc)
Keep walking and between there and round the corner towards the static caravan site one will find building after building.
These are the buildings inland. Looks like some building remains were used to help create the railway in the 1840's (Railway was completed by the South Wales Railway Company and ran from 1853 onwards where the Great Western Railway took them over and still runs to the present day).
But while there take a look at the stones, and also the rails that were used for sea defences... Some are broad gauge rails of unique shape. Others are early standard gauge rails.History of railways in front of ones eyes!
I understand. The getting to and from the airport is and the international falderol can be trying. I use uber for the to and fro, or wheel my stuff to the metro, BART, under group etc, which is usually clearly marked and close by. the paperwork - right- its a drag. I try to get someone to help me with it.
When I traveled more often as a presenter I would have a "handler". They took care of all that. when I had to do it on my own it always got messy and I had to sleep on the hard seats in departure areas more than once for some stupid oversight.
As for the flying: I can't say why but I get ecstatic when the wheels leave the tarmac and my life is in the hands of a small crew and some handware I don't understand. I normally love to be in control, believe in situational awareness, but on a plane I am free from it all and I have to completely surrender to the unknown. It is the same in the metro, a train or bus. I can't explain it rationally. Normally I want all the facts to minimize the "unknown". I can drive but I meltdown easily when things get unpredictable.
Taking the red eye, I can and arrive in the early morning to give myself all that extra time I need as everyone streams past me. I can relax and study my map and take it slow to get to the next palce and the next.
I live on an island and here we have some small cesna airplanes that fly interisland. they seat 10 and are a blast. they fly low and everything below looks like google maps.
I always ask for early boarding and am in my seat with everything stowed away, my NC headphones and sunglasses on as others pile in after me.
Getting an aisle seat always makes the ride feel spacious. I panic in the window and middle seats. Getting up and walking the aisles when the seat belt sign is off also helps. Red eyes are great because everyone sleeps through the whole thing. No drama.
I love churches and cathedrals and I've been watching Art That Made Us. It's reminded me of York Minster which I'd like to visit again.
I love gothic churches. I spent some time in Bari Gotic in Barcelona and the walls are so thick and the silence so expansive it's transcendent. I went to Notradam in Paris on all souls days (before the fire) and it also took me back to what it must have been like in medieval times. i like ruins of latin american structures too, especially series of underground tunnels and chambers with mysterious forgotten purposes.
I would love to see pictures of that. is there link or have you taken photos?
Planes.... I like the idea of flying in an older small plane which I have never done, but the thought that if things went wrong one would simply glide back down to earth, but the whole process of flying on a large plane from trying to negotiate complicated and stressful airport parking to trying to work out the terminals and the customs and even the complexities of filling out passport forms (I never was able to get past this stage) and the thought of being crammed in with hundreds of people and not being allowed to open a window for air. It put me off wanting to ever fly by plane. If I go abroad I will find someone with a boat who can take me so I don't have to do those complicated passport forms or all the other stresses involved.
If I could avoid the stresses of the airport side of things and just go on a small plane I believe I will be fine!
I accidently reported my own post in wanting to edit this. Oops!
Think I need to start a thread. Some of the things I have been up to.
I love castles.. All that history. Fascinating!
I like trains as well. There's something special about a train, I've always found them interesting and fun to travel on when it's not too busy.
As a girl I had some Hornby trains. The first one I got was a Thomas the Tank Engine set lol loved it and had some fun times playing with it with my sisters.
I like Llandyfeisant church though it has always been locked when I went there.
Very much so, how do you feel about church’s- especially medieval ones?
I love beaches and I also like castles, although it's been a long time since I last visited a beach or castle.
When I was a child, my paternal grandparents lived in The Gower (South Wales), just a short walk from Three Cliffs Bay. Providing the weather was dry, visits would almost always consist of walks around the ruins of Pennard Castle, overlooking Three Cliffs Bay. I also became well acquainted with the other beaches around The Gower.
I grew up in Southeast Wales and remember visiting several Welsh castles and castle ruins. The ones that spring to mind are Raglan Castle, Caerleon Castle, Oystermouth Castle, Cardiff Castle, Caldicott Castle, and Castell Coch. The latter made more of an impression on me because it really is like something out of a fairytale.

The ruins of Newport Castle (South Wales) and Usk Castle were also familiar sights to me.
Take a look online at Paxtons Folley. I am one of the few who has been up to the room in the tower.
Yes the hovercraft is a fun experience. Plus we have all kinds of little nooks and crannies that are stashed away, waiting to be found. This is one of my favourites ️

Lol my apologies Put your head in gear Charla lol!
I'm going to add the pic here. Worried if I edit the post again it might get eaten by the spam filter.

*runs away*
Edit is back. See my reply!. :D
Noo! You are right. I mean Paxtons Folly looks similar.
