just a space for people can say what they have been doing today so we can keep up and in touch

  • How did you get from A to B?

I want to jump from the dreaded "people skills" which are alien to me (and the fact I function is a marvel) to something nice and technical where I can follow rabbitholes and dig up facts for money.

  • yes i an an ex-hunter ( kill and eat food ),  these skills then transferred over to several armies across europe. And now i use the same skills to hunt for bugs in software.

The helicopter on mars has a bug in its software but they have a work around.

  • yes look after your dad he sounds a niece guy

  • I worked. I went part-time at the beginning of the pandemic because I was shielding.  We went WFH, my anxiety was at 11, I don't know whether it was melt-down or panic attack or... Never mind - all of the above?

I did some data-entry work for the past three months and it was heavenly. I had forgotten the bliss of not having to speak to humans.  I'm back on the phones and, although it's only 4.5 hours a day (believe me, every second is counted), I'm half-dead at the end of my shift.

The plan was to go for a walk with my Dad, usually a couple of hours and I'm home again but it was raining and he's fitting himself a new loft-hatch.  I helped him with it and watched a video about dogs with him and then I could make my excuses and leave.  I love my Dad to pieces, but I just don't have the energy to do work on the phones and socialise with basically anyone after.

I've committed to going for a walk with him every week because I care about him and his health but I'm mentally shattered.

I need to get off the d**n phones.

  • Made a lot of phone calls today.

  • went on bug hunt

    Just like in "Aliens"?

  • Best wishes - it's not a nice thing to have to put up with.

  • hope it goes well, good luck!

  • getting ready for my second operation tomorrow - it the "no eating"/fasting that drives me crazy .  Still managing to work which is something but i cant drive Disappointed

  • yea get a dog that will keep u busy ,,,,, "walk me", "walk me", " feed me", "share u're food", " walk me " ........

  • Had a really good few days (less people interaction). Works colleague is on holiday so I've some much needed headspace for the next week. Work is straightforward and varied enough to keep me occupied - so much easier when I can just get on with it and not have to have a conversation about it.

Feeling very different at the mo. Perhaps it's the season - I always pick up in Summer. Or maybe it's just the acceptance of work-as-chaos. Whichever it is it's nice not to finish the day feeling tired and frazzled.

I do need to get more exercise though. Before I came back to work I'd got into a habit of walking every couple of days to clear my head- now I'm struggling just to do the weekend. I find I need a reason again - instead of just doing it to enjoy it. Sometimes the stay-at-home and loafing about routine gets way too easy. Maybe I should have got a dog instead of a cat.

Also reclaimed the kitchen. Bit ashamed I left it in that state for so long.

  • Spent 4 hours on my coding course and saw my cousin that started a new barista job near me, she makes a nice coffee. now I'm spending my evening watching vampire diaries and this forum. Overall had a nice day today and starting to get used to my new routine :)

  • in work, went on bug hunt  looking for issues anywhere and everywhere. Found 3 minor defects. confidence is growing with this software which is a credit to the developers involved. Read another chapter of my Zen book Slight smile. More things I am getting wrong, Zen is so difficult !

  • Had a busy one - up early to stabilise my body for blood tests first thing and then onto mid-morning physiotherapy at the hospice and then an autistic group zoom quiz in the afternoon.

  • yea do walking its good for body and mind

  • My day wasn't good really. Spent the morning soaking my hand in bleach, it's hurting and burning a lot now. I did however do some walking this afternoon which was fun. Have an appointment with my therapist tomorrow.

  • Posted another Mass Card today - the mother-in-law of a Former Counsellor of mine - at a Post Office which opens on Bank Holidays, then I left my car over with a mechanic. It's getting an MOT three weeks from tomorrow.

Half-an-hour ago, my neighbour came to fix the connector to my gate, to put in with the cattle-grid, and an Amazon delivery came. More Tim Horton's. :)
