I’m just finishing my 3rd coffee of the day (I really need to cut down again!) and just wondered what hot drink other people prefer? Are you a coffee drinker or do you prefer tea or perhaps you like herbal tea (good flavour recommendations welcome!) or something else? How do you take your tea/coffee/other. I drink strong black coffee with no milk or sugar but with half cold water due to sensitive gums; I don’t drink tea but do drink herbal teas depending on the flavour, lemon, ginger and manuka honey is a current favourite but peppermint and liquorice is a recent fail on the herbal tea front!
Now!!!! I drink both tea and coffee with milk and two sugars.
At home I prefer tea, but only specific brands. Other brands I can't stand. I love Ringtons tea, waitrose gold blend, Punjama, Thompsons. I hate brands such as PG tips, Yorkshire tea and caffeine free tea makes me feel sick.
Away from home I always drink coffee because I can stomach any brand.
In my early childhood at home we always had tea, never coffee. But the tea was either black, with lemon juice or wirh black/red fruit juice. my mother never put milk in tea. When I first came across tea with milk while on holiday, I fell in love with it. And never drank black tea again.
I wonder what they put/don’t put in the different brands of tea to make them taste so different? I’ve heard that caffeine free tea or coffee is actually worse for you than caffeinated, not sure why, probably something that they put in it!
I prefer Nescafé coffee, preferably gold blend but original will do; Beanies flavoured coffee or Carte Noir.
I can imagine that if you were never able to have milk in your tea as a child that it would be quite novel and good when you did finally try tea with milk?
She does now :-)
Thanks I'll check out Amazon!
'Mrs Christmas Cards', love it! Does your wife realise that she now has a 'forum name'?
It was definitely online, not sure where. I'm glad you asked because literally half an hour ago I was worrying that the link I posted might not have been the cheapest as I only googled to find the product! Didn't want to have sent you to somewhere unnecessarily expensive!
Mrs Christmas Cards can't remember either but we think maybe Amazon?
Do you have to order it online or are there any supermarkets that sell it, that you’re aware of?
I'm genuinely amazed by the stuff - whereas bleach takes the stains off with a long soak, this does it with a quick wipe, & it smells so much nicer! When my wife bought it I thought it was a bit of a "faddy" "organic" product, but it's really very good!
Thank you for posting that tip on here, I may have to invest in some!
I've found something even better than bleach for getting tea stains off (faster, more effective and smells wonderful). It's expensive, but you really don't need much at all, and it is effective at cleaning lots of other stuff too.
It's called "Pure Castile Soap":

I rarely (i.e. never have before!) rave about cleaning products, but this is excellent stuff.
[Edit] p.s. the above might not be the cheapest place to get it, it's just to illustrate the product.
Thank you for the advice! I don’t know why I didn’t think to use bleach as it works on most other stains and germs! Gotta love a product that kills all known germs dead! I’ll bleach the offending cups tomorrow and ensure that I rinse them very thoroughly afterwards!
Have you tried whitening toothpaste?
The trick to whitening the inside of cups and stainless steel teaspoons is bleach.
Place the teaspoons in the cup. And a little bleach and boiling water, leave for a minute or two. And even hardened stains disappear, or at least come loose and can be gently rubbed away. Then rinse with clean cold water four or five times.
Unfortunately we can't use bleach on teeth in the mouth.
Tea is an absolute nightmare for staining everything! Even though I don't drink tea, I see, from tea drinkers in my house, the staining effect that it has! It stains teeth really badly and as for cups, don't even get me started about the time I have had to spend scrubbing cups with a scourer to eradicate tea stains, only for them to have reappeared by the next time I do the washing up!!
The worst thing about black tea or tea with dark fruit juice is the way it stained my teeth.
