I decided that I needed a new book to read and managed to find one on my bookshelf that I’d only half read so thought I’d finish it off: Tower, An epic History of the Tower of London by Nigel Jones. I just wondered what everyone else is reading at the moment? What does everyone else like to read?
A collection of Charles Bukowski's letters.
I’ve never heard of these. What are the letters about?
That looks really interesting. Thankyou for sharing.
I think with socialising with NTs it's just the whole double empathy thing. We don't understand their social skills and they don't understand ours. I read this article the other week and it makes loads of sense.

I had one ASD person in my last social group too. The rest were NT's though. Having social skills is difficult and an Autistic will always make mistake no matter how hard he tries.
I tend to socialise with predominantly other autistic people since my diagnosis. Either new friends or old friends that have since been diagnosed/self diagnosed too. It tends to make for much less complicated social dynamics and they understand if I need to be quiet for a bit.
I'm a confusing monkey for a lot of people as i am both intelligent and extremely low status. I would love to be loved and feel the gentle affection of companionship. But to do that you need to have something to show off to the other monkeys so they can see how great and strong your genes are. I'm not going through all that nonsense just to impress some daft ape.
We share 98 percent of our genes with chimpanzees!
We are monkeys.
I loathe these monkey power plots too.
I like it too in theory. I hate social dynamics though. It's all very simian. Status obsessions and the like. King Monkey gets all the mates whilst weaker monkey doesn't. Oooh look at monkey doing a nice display of strength. That's what seems to go on. We're a part of the animal kingdom really.
The letters seem interesting. I'm glad you're enjoying them. Personally, I like socialising, but in moderation. I need a lot of down time too.
I am. He was a very very flawed man in many ways but i adore him. I like that his poetry is written from the perspective of an ordinary working stiff. I like how he transcended his background by being interested in poetry and classical music. I like how Antisocial he was because i'm that too. Even though i shouldn't be! The world and other people were a major irritant to Charles Bukowski and he couldn't wait to get out of other people's company. haha
Thank you for explaining Are you enjoying reading the letters?
He was a published writer. The letters are conversations with other writers about writing. His thoughts about his various interests such as his love life and gambling etc
