Biscuits

All-purpose biscuit thread. To dunk or not to dunk, biscuit ethics, favourite biscuits for special occasions, etc.

Split off from this thread, because it was getting too silly:

  • Dunk always. The best are morning coffee and rich tea but I haven't seen morning coffee in a while.

All biscuits with butter cream in between 2 of them are gross.

Digestive biscuits are for cheese. Not for dunking.

Bourbon creams would be nice without the butter cream.

Jaffa cakes are cakes not biscuits.

  • I don't agree about the Bourbon creams but.....

Digestive biscuits are for cheese. Not for dunking.

This is absolutely right. It isn't even subjective. Everyone that I pulled out Digestives in front of looked at me like I'd just landed in a spaceship. All that tasted the wonderful combination were converted. *** chocolate digestives, *** dunking. I eat soup with crackers too, that is another one worth trying.

Jaffa cakes are cakes not biscuits.

Agreed. How can sponge be considered a biscuit? It's cake!

I respect your highly informed and tasteful opinions on biscuits. So what do you think about Penguins? I'm undecided whether they are biscuits or chocolate bars? If anyone else has any input I'd like to hear it.

  • Penguins are chocolate bars, definitely not a biscuit.

  • Show-off! :-D

Lol, I've ate a lot of biscuits, and drank a lot of milk!

  • I suppose you have to draw the line somewhere: a chocolate bar with biscuit pieces is not a biscuit.

I just don't know yet. It's still problematic for me. The jury's still out!

    So are Club (all varieties).

Hmm. Club do ssem to lean in a more chocolate bar direction. BTW thanks for reminding me of them! I'll be getting some to consume, with milk, in the near future.

Viscounts, Viscounts are biscuits though plain and simple.

  • Why hold a mug when you have a high capacity trunk!

  • There does exist the art of taking a hearty draught of liquid and the holding thereof, in order to add a biscuit or other sustenance afterwards, then closing the mouth to combine and savour all flavours before swallowing. (And, anyway, an Elephant often holds liquids in the Trunk before putting them into the mouth, thus a Cup/Mug is not needed.)

(P.S. ...If anyone asks, I shall deny all involvement in this Thread should it turn out to be some sort of conspiracy attempting to promote Biscuits for use as an all-purpose Commodity to replace Bread or Currency.)

  • I'm thinking they might prefer a much larger body of water than any mug could hold. But I don't think Ellie's are good at holding mugs.

  • Never been able to dunk a penguin. Never had a mug big enough to accommodate one

  • Ooh, I have to disagree. Penguins are chocolate-coated biscuits. So are Club (all varieties). Obviously you wouldn't dunk them, but they are eaten for the crunchy bit inside the chocolate, the 'biscuity goodness' as Ralf Little would have it in the Two Pints video.
