Wishing the world was a better place

Hello I am feeling stressed and angry about this world and I talked about wanting to harm or kill myself because of me not being able to cope with life any longer as I really wish that nobody was born disabled or differently from everyone else or no one was to become disabled later in their lives in the future as I really wish that would never happen as I hate it when life is so unfair and people try and make me accept things like life being the way it is when I should not have to accept something like that as disabled people cannot do anything for themselves like defend themselves so I just want something to be done about these issues like curing and preventing disabilities in the future, God to make life better and to sort it and for everyone to make this world better too. Also I would like for people to never be moody towards me at all anymore.

  • Sorry you're so stressed. The world can sometimes seem a horrible and hopeless place and we can feel powerless to do anything about it. That's a judgement though, not reality. Maybe you could say a bit more about what's happened to make you so stressed and angry recently.

Have you heard of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy? It's a pretty standard process to look at thoughts and behaviour for people who are depressed or anxious, and it's available on the NHS (you can ask your GP, or you may be able to refer yourself if you can find contact details for the 'IAPT' service in your local area). There are also books that explain it well - I liked something called 'Overcoming Depression' by Paul Gilbert.

None of that is to say that what you worry about in the world isn't valid. For example, disabled people club together to form disability rights organisations that change things (for example DPAC). It's easier to do it if you can find people in the same boat.
