I'm currently reading Catch 22 by J. Heller.
I first read this book at secondary school and quickly bought it when I was able to because I knew from my first time reading I would want to read it again and I have many times.
This book is masterful in so many ways. It begins as comic farce, proceeds to the increasingly surreal, and then transforms into a nightmarish tragedy before ending triumphantly. No novel that I know so successfully blends all these disparate moods. I believe it was Hugh Walpole who wrote, "Life is a comedy to those who think, and a tragedy to those who feel." No book illustrates that better than this novel. This truly is one of the funniest books I have ever read. It is also one of the most tragic.
Not many books I've read have been like this. It's a special book, well written, gripping and can actually bring my emotions to life something not many things can actually do.
If you haven't had the pleasure of reading this then I do highly recommend you giving it a try. It's a masterpiece!
Sorry that turned in to a review weirdly...excuse my weirdness, I'm eccentric.
Thank you. It was also a pleasure to read your own post.
Do you want to know more?
I run a zoom based "film night" and I have the trilogy of Starship Troopers films which I will play at some point this year...
I'm reading One Day by David Nicholls. I saw the TV show on Netflix and thought it would be a nice book. This year I've read primarily murder mysteries so far so this book makes for a nice change.
Not read anything by him, but I have two albums by his sister who records under the name Poe. According to a well-known online encyclopaedia, House of Leaves was published to coincide with the release of her second album, the excellent Haunted.
Ooh good choice!
When i get time away from other things i need to read. Starship troopers. i've read it many times and its a cracking read.
It's difficult to pick just one book, but if I had to it would probably be Use of Weapons.
I love Iain Banks books as well! Do you have a fav book he wrote? I like all of them personally but generally read Espedair Street the most.
But they are all amazing IMHO.

Iain Banks is my favourite author. He was an amazing writer. I particularly loved his Culture novels.
I like that book. C.S Lewis was a fantastic author. I like all his books.
House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski. Amazing book so far.
"That Hideous Strength" by C.S.Lewis
I don't really read books anymore, I listen to audiobooks instead.
They allow me to do other thingd while listening to the story.
Currently I am listening to Discworld book 11 Reaperman by Terry Pratchett.
You have excellent taste in books!

Ohh! What a fantastic book that is! I like all his books, whacky, weird but wonderful.
I found him as an author interesting and did a lot of research on him. He had an amazing process as a writer, to produce about one book a year (alternating mainstream novels as Iain Banks and science fiction as Iain M. Banks).
He’d spend nine months of the year not writing. He’d think about the next novel, but not write anything, instead driving around Scotland to distilleries, making music, whatever. Then, having heavily thought through the book, he’d sit down and write it in three months. Then back to nine months off. Pretty much a dream schedule!
Hello fellow eccentric person!
I love that you were just in your own little world, singing and tap dancing... Good for you and don't be put off. It's these little quirky that make us the wonderful people we are. I used to do similar in the corridors at school....
I have no regrets!
I still do it now, my daughter must be wondering what the hell is going on!

Dont apologise for being eccentric, and passionate about what you love. Eccentric people are my favourite type.
Yesterday while waiting for the kettle to boil i was caught at work by two engineers i dont know, singing Rockin Robin whilst tap dancing. (A skill i dont possess).
Eccentric and me are very very good pals lol.
Catch 22 is one of my favourites. Along with To kill a mockingbird, Of Mice and Men and Lord of the Flies.
