My son is 16yrs old but with the mental age of a 6 / 7 yr old. I need to set up a bank account for him, but I need one where I can control it for him. The searches I have done so far with high street banks have only accounts which the parent can control until the child is 18yrs old. These are of no use to me, has anyone had similar problems

    I believe  you can open a bank account for your son and you as the third party or authorised user, can have control/access over this. Your son would need to authorise this. I would pop into your local bank and make enquiries.
