Newbie

Hi, I live in the North East. I was diagnosed as Autistic 2 years ago then a week later with ADHD. The support for adults in this region is non existent so I’ve been feeling pretty isolated and have really struggled with my mental health over the last year in particular.

I just want to learn about how my brain works and how to be myself without the mask I’ve created to survive this world so far!
I need to learn how to live in a way that doesn’t cost me my mental well being and self esteem.

Is there anyone else in here with a co morbid diagnosis?

Any advice on working out how to be yourself for the first time in your entire life and being ok with it? Blush

I’m based in Teeside, which seems to be the worst area for adult mental health services in the uk according to reports I’ve read. There’s nothing available here apart from a few services for children or families with autistic children. As a ‘high functioning’ (really hate that term!) autistic adult, there’s not a lot going on.

  • There doesn’t seem to be anything that they offer to my are, it’s all further north or accessible if you get ‘access to work’ (which I’m still waiting for a call back for, the waiting list is awful).
