2 year old son

my wife and I have recently put our son into nursery. He showed signs of regression with making noises at around 12/13 months, yet he never actually really started speaking. During lockdowns and after then we have not really received and support from health workers. I was born with a tongue tie and had a speech impediment. My son was also born with a tongue tie. We’ve had concerns but always kind of put it down to Covid and speech problems. He communicates by pushing and shaking his head side to side when he doesn’t want something, smiling and grasping for something when he does.

a health worker believes that he is on the spectrum and they are going to do an early learning meeting/plan or something along those lines. I just want to know what me and my wife can do other than what we are already doing? How can we help him more? It’s so up in the air but with such early intervention can we get him to mainstream school and allow him to live a somewhat/normal life?
