Newbie alert! (Suspected asd) Help!

After struggling with mental health issue, depression and anxiety for most of my life (I'm 50). I have only just found out that ASD? has been sitting on my doctors records since 2018. I'm trying to wrap my head around a lot of new information. The symptoms are all ringing really loud bells and past issues regarding relationships and sensory processing issues are starting to make a great deal of sense.

in my area, i am looking at 18 months for an assessment by the neurodevelopment team. How do i describe myself until then?

Also, am I entitled to any support? while there are areas of live I'm really good at, I struggle with day to day stuff.

I am currently losing my flat after 12 years and I am struggling trying to find somewhere to live or deal with anything to do with the situation.

In other words, HELP!

  • u can do it  Slight smile say to yourself everyday --- " I am handling everything just fine "   ----- it  is part of a positive thinking course which helps boost your  thinking.

  • thank you so much! I managed to get a referral to a housing charity through adult social services. It's al very bewildering . Too much to process at once but I'm hanging on in there.

  • because the situation is urgent can you ring this helpline below when they are next open which is Monday. You need to talk to CAB ( citizens advice bureau ) about getting yourself somewhere to live.  Declare yourself as homeless.

Then get your GP to refer to the ND team you mentioned for an assessment as soon as you can
