Unbreakable spectacles?

Hello

My 13 year old son has autism. He keeps breaking his glasses when angry or frustrated. He can tell us that it's not because he doesn't like the glasses (he likes them and knows he gets headaches without them) but because it's so satisfying to break them when he is angry. 7 pairs since Christmas - roughly one a month, and given that there is a gap inbetween as we make appointments, wait for the frames to be made etc, they can't be lasting longer than two weeks. He absolutely hates going to Specsavers because of the bright lights, noise, physical proximity of people etc. (We have learnt the quieter times to go)

Can anyone recommend a good brand of unbreakable glasses? The last ones to break were 'ultraflex'

Thank you so much.

Vicky

My daughter does the same thing, but not out of anger, I think she likes to test how far she can bend them.  So I go through an average of 2-3 frames a month.  So now I have decided to research the web to find non breakable eyeglass frames and amazon has quite a few to choose from.  I sent you a link above to check them out.

When someone asks if you use other things to redirect his anger, yes, that is great, but that doesn't work for all things.  Also, maybe when you have his eyes checked again, make sure you are taking him to a eye doctor that has special equipment over and above what a regular eye doctor has.  My daughter don't talk, so she goes to a special office that has equipment that reads her eyes and determines the best prescription for her.  Since she can't tell them, the computers do it for her.

    Good luck!
