What do you do on a weekend?

As the title says, really.

I find that on a weekend I get up fairly early (5:15AM) as I don't like doing lie-ins. I'll then head to the gym at some point that morning and do a class or two, or perhaps just do a workout/swimming session and/or spend time in the spa. More often than not, I have absolutely nothing else planned for the weekend, meaning I have two long afternoons that drag out and I do nothing but procrastinate, making me feel unproductive and bringing my mood down.

I used to enjoy gaming and I do still occasionally, but not so much now, and it feels like such a waste of time when I do it. I'm trying to be more forgiving with myself, and right now I'm laid in bed watching Impractical Jokers, which I enjoy and don't feel so bad about doing, but it'd be nice to have some more things to fill my weekend with.

I'd like to know what everyone else gets up to on the weekend.

  • I've been watching the Resident. Right now I'm watching Adolescence though. Sometimes I rewatch shows. There's certain ones I'll repeat.

  • Keep up the great work. I guess from what you said it would be so much worse if no one did what you do.

  • Lots of groups where I am pick litter.  They collect everything - from items blown by the wind to discarded shopping trolleys and bikes.

I've also seen individuals going out with a grabbing tool and bags & doing it themselves.  And why not?  It's a worthwhile thing to do, good for the environment & gets you exercise & fresh air.

  • Thank you, it is dirty hard work. Nice to see the moors looking better afterwards.

  • It can be frustrating as the record time between having cleared a section of roadside and someone littering is ten minutes. I adopt a up and at it philosophy and enjoy being out.

  • It was amazing. You can tell it's much more modern, with a higher quality animation and characters, and you can see a sprinkling of diversity too. However, it's still very much got that classic W&G humour and style, and I absolutely loved it.

  • What a kind thing to do.

I see so many litter picking on the country roads near me ( I’m not sure if to be pleased they are clearing up or cross with the people who throw it there in the first place).

  • I like older music, typically classic rock with quite a bit of metal. I also like classical music and "medieval" music - such as stuff from the Augsburg Early Music Ensemble. I listen to music whilst at the gym and sometimes whilst driving, but I often like to drive or do other things in silence too.

I don't think I really have a favourite song at the moment honestly. And no worries about the reply, I've been at work anyway!

  • I like fantasy novels (Lord of the Rings, anything by Robin Hobb, that kind of thing), some classical fictional works such as Dante's epics, and then some more historical stuff like non-fiction books or perhaps older philosophical texts - particularly works from Taoists and Stoics. What about you?

  • That's brilliant :)

  • I watched it in bits in between doing food and running around after children over Christmas,

I really should watch it properly all the way through though as from what I saw I loved it. I love that type of animation. Did you enjoy??

  • I enjoy sleep and don't understand how you can get bored with it, I just fall asleep and have amazingly weird dreams, my internal telly is often more interesting than real telly! I do get that insomnia is horrible, having suffered from it intermitantly.

  • Lucky you avoiding the madness first thing. I hate busy traffic, it can quickly become overwhelming navigating through it.

I like pop music, really enjoy 60s pop and 80s music. The Beatles are one of my fave groups, love their upbeat fun 60s sound. It depends on what I'm drawing but normally I draw and listen to music at the same time. If I get to a really difficult part of my drawing I continue in silence to help me concentrate.

What music do you like? Have you got a fave song?

Sorry for the late reply. The notification of your reply only just came in.

  • Yes, it is voluntary. I am provided with bags, a picker and a bag holder. I supply the high viz clothing. I go out and leave bags by the roadside for collection.

  • Thanks for the tip I have started journalling recently, what kind of things do you like reading?

  • Sometimes I chat when people recognise me from the same coach while outside and we find ourselves in a similar situation.

In Northallerton I chatted to two women from the coach because we couldn't find our way out of a department store.  We visited the toilets on the first floor, then the three of us couldn't find the down escalator because there wasn't one.  It turns out there is a central escalator up from the ground floor to the first.  But to get down we had to use stairs hidden at the side of the store.

  • I find housework so much easier nice and early on a morning - my only problem is doing anything noisy like hoovering isn't an option as I don't want to wake anyone up! It's great that you get out so much. I'm curious about the litter picking - is this something you do voluntarily?
