What do you do on a weekend?

As the title says, really.

I find that on a weekend I get up fairly early (5:15AM) as I don't like doing lie-ins. I'll then head to the gym at some point that morning and do a class or two, or perhaps just do a workout/swimming session and/or spend time in the spa. More often than not, I have absolutely nothing else planned for the weekend, meaning I have two long afternoons that drag out and I do nothing but procrastinate, making me feel unproductive and bringing my mood down.

I used to enjoy gaming and I do still occasionally, but not so much now, and it feels like such a waste of time when I do it. I'm trying to be more forgiving with myself, and right now I'm laid in bed watching Impractical Jokers, which I enjoy and don't feel so bad about doing, but it'd be nice to have some more things to fill my weekend with.

I'd like to know what everyone else gets up to on the weekend.

  • I'm sorry you're not enjoying gaming as much anymore. I hope you can be kinder to yourself. Just remember-if something makes you happy and brings you enjoyment then it isn’t a waste of time.

My weekends ordinarily consist of me staying home. Since my mum sadly passed away it’s just me now. Weekends and the week are much the same for me.

I will usually spend my time:

    Reading something

    Playing with my toys

    Sorting through collectables

    Watching stuff

    Listening to music

Or spending time out in the garden or writing.

This weekend however was different–I journeyed and stayed on a riverboat from Friday to today. It was mostly quiet, not many had booked-(Good for me.), and it was  a peaceful time only disturbed a little by young children running around playing but luckily I had my noise cancelling headphones that helped limit the disturbances and I was able to read my book.

I got to see some exciting sights we passed and I saw some ducks, geese and swans. The weather remained dry, mostly. I had to return inside the boat to my room twice due to the rain, though I could still see the scenery pass by through my window.

It was a delightful time!-A change to my usual weekend routine but a good change.

  • Thanks for replying, nice to see this post pick up a bit of traffic all of a sudden. You're right about being kinder to yourself, and I think that's good advice no matter who you are. I remember a saying/quote - I can't remember who from - which states "time that you enjoyed wasting was not wasted time," and I think that's very true for the most part.

Your weekend does sound really good - what book were you reading?
