Joint issues??

It sounds like you've been through quite a journey with your joints, and it's totally understandable to wonder if others in the autism community have had similar experiences.

Have you ever considered trying a joint supplement with MSM? Some people find it helpful for connective tissues, and it might be worth exploring as an option. Of course, everyone's journey is unique, but maybe someone here has insights to share.

Hypermobile in knees and elbows. Im a keen weight lifter so I have to be extra careful (had a shoulder tendon injury that stopped me training for months! Hated it. (gym is basically my special interest).

Elbows are really Hypermobile tho and ai can do the Charlie Chaplin knee walk thing. Interesting it's so common here!

Heat, especially moist heat, may relieve soreness and stiffness from fibromyalgia by boosting blood flow to the places where you hurt. Apply a warm, moist washcloth to the painful area or try taking a shower or soaking in a bath. You also can reduce the deep muscle pain of fibromyalgia with a cold pack. If you have to much pain then you must consult with physiotherapist.

Hi, I am hypermobile, in 90% of my joints, which has lead to early onset of arthritis, carpel tunnel, dislocations in elbows, jaw and even my cricoid joint in my throat. I am hoping to start doing an activity that can help muscle strength around my joints and core that i can afford to help support my joints. Being in a swimming pool feels like bliss like my joints become new compared with doing other exercise that pounds at my joints or forces them apart.

I had three months of physiotherapy, then three weeks of acupuncture, which cleared my constant pain after the repetitive strain injury. I still have a weak shoulder, but now know what exercises to do to relieve it if it starts aching again.

I’ve been suffering from back pain for more than 6 years, I guess. I’ve tried everything literally. At least, I thought so until I learned about a physiotherapist. I heard about them before, but I thought such specialists helped athletes only. So, a few months ago, we went to physiotherapy in toronto. Long story short, my back pain has greatly reduced. I hope it won’t take me much time to get rid of it. So, I think you guys should consider seeing a physiotherapist. That would definitely be good for you. Anyway, keep the thread updated. Let me know if more details are needed.

I am hypermobile, I took the clinical test for it. I also have long-term rotator cuff problems with my right shoulder, originally due to a repetitive strain injury at work.

I have always been in pain, but also suffer with several autoimmune conditions, including a spinal specific type. I haven’t been diagnosed with Fibro but I’m pretty sure I have that too. As for hyper mobility, I don’t think so. However, I do wonder about my Sacroiliac joints which seem to have a mind of there own.

I'm taking Turmeric to reduce potential inflammation. I also drink milk, for calcium, and take Vitamin D3 tablets. 

I struggled with rheumatoid arthritis since childhood, it causes a lot of pain, I had somekind of therapy around 10y.o. unsuccessful.

I had many bones fractured or broken and some didn't heal/grow back correctly.

Especially bones in my right wrist, a constant mild pain, or spiking blinding sharp when I twist it when lifting something, and it continues to deform now, no fix available except immobilising it permanently

sometimes my wrist and hand goes numb for few minutes as if it was paralised after incident like that

I think a lot of us experience this. The days which I mind things which help with calcium and vit D seem to help. I take a multi, but a few times per week also have an immune complex with 7 different mushrooms. Magnesium spray also seems to help. 

Hi, I am sure hypermobility is more prevalent in those who are autistic. My daughter is only young but she seems quite hypermobile and is awaiting assessment for it.
