I'd like to add The Other Side Of Life by Japan. There is a short but amazing acoustic live version of it on vimeo/uTube (better quality I think on vimeo) but I dont know how to make a link. The full fat album version is out there too and I played it to death on repeat as a teenager. Listened today and so much more made sense with my new lens.

There are so many songs, where lyrics and melody can be very touching, but cheering as well. Always depends on my mood, the situation etc, but all in all the lyrics are very important to me. I often end up in what is for others quite dark / sad music.

Alanis Moressette - Surrendering. I've included a YT link including lyrics. Musically this song is a masterclass in layering. If you don't know what that means, listen to how it builds. One repetition with one instrument, then the next time, something else joins in. Sometimes it's counterpoints, sometimes they emphasise the main part. It's so simple yet so powerful. Enjoy :D
