Just wondering how other people stay mentally active?
Some things I do are reading and wordsearches but would be interested to see what others do

Learning motor skills is an interesting way to remain happy and mentally active.
I've got these on my list (not tried yet): Juggling, Rollerblading.
Hi everyone,
I have really loved reading your ideas about how to stay mentally active. It is an area that I am really interested in and thought I would share something that I read the other day from AgeUK: Looking after your thinking skills | Age UK . Whilst it is an article aimed at staying mentally fit as we age I found some new pieces of information on here that I add to my own mental fitness routine.
Take care,
Olivia Mod
Languages are definitely helpful for mental activity and really gets things going. Estoy intendo hablar español
Thanks. I wasn’t particularly proficient at it or a good student, but it would have been nice to dabble.
Sorry to hear you can't play the violin anymore
I have heard that playing a musical instrument is another thing that can help build new brain connections and maintain mental activity.
I used to play the violin but following an injury, it is no longer comfortable to play.
I am considering learning a language (even if it's just basic words and phrases) question is which one do I want to learn the most !!
I used to play tennis when I was primary aged then a little into teen years
I can play the viola (stringed instrument) although I'm not as good as I used to be (which doesn't matter as it's about having fun now!) - I should really play it more regularly
Thank you, will check out the links!
thats an interesting subject I'd never thought of! What do you think the implications are?
I keep my mind active by language learning (at the moment, I’m focusing on French, but I want to brush up my Greek and Latin, and I hope to make a start on Russian sometime). My other main intellectual activity is theological research (at the moment, I’m looking into the implications of neurodiversity for Orthodox anthropology).
And to be a bit thought-provoking, I also consider photography as an activity that keeps me mentally active. It certainly exercises my creativity and intuition.
I’m a life long learner of the Italian language. The process of constructing a sentence in a foreign language helps the brain make new connections.
I used to play tennis and would like to get back to it. The hand-eye coordination helps maintain brain performance. My balance and coordination are awful and I was never brilliant at tennis, but I enjoy it.
Table tennis, padel, pickle ball, badminton and others are alternatives for keeping the brain active.
Volunteering.
2 things for me (that I out to do more)
Thank you, sounds a little complicated for me at the moment !
They're ones with a square grid and every square has a number between 1 and 26, each number is a letter of the alphabet and you have to work out what number relates to what letter and fill them in appropriately, you're usually given between 1 and 3 letters to get you started, the rest you have to work out yourself.
I watched/listened to stuff on dinosaurs from New Scientist on YouTube today while watering my orchids and other plants. Here's a link to get you going. Over 2 hours. There are other shorter ones.

I also watch lots on geology.
There are good history ones too. You could start with The rest is history, it is a popular podcast
