autism diagnosis report

i just received my autism report,  i had already been given an autism diagnosis from them a week after the assessment.  the report is an uncomfortable read and really confusing.  there are a couple of things that they state i said which i didnt and it mentions some mental health diagnosis i have that i have never been told about before,  its all a bit odd.  i do have some mental health diagnosis that i know about and are always listed on a letter i recieve after ive had a psychiatrist appointment.  but the mental health diagnosis on this report i know nothing about.  would you just ignore it as i been given an autism diagnosis and leave it at that, or would you contact them to question it.  thanks.

  • I think the best thing to do is maybe just contact them regarding this to ask if they can update the relevant parts. When I got my report there were a couple of factual errors and also some things about friends which I didn't want in the report. They were happy to update it and issue another copy. Hopefully you can get it sorted.

  • I watched a video of a German youtuber,  Tom Harrendorf,  who said, that it's pretty common, that people read on their reports facts from their lives that were written incorrect. He said, that the assessors make notes during the assessments and sometimes make mistakes. He advised to leave it as it is. From my side I can't say anything because I don't have official diagnosis.

It also depends what kind of mistake is that - they wrote wrong name if the school you attended, or they wrote, you were an orphan, but you were not.

  • If you do it every day I expect they have a template. They could just tick off the items to include in the interviews. But I expect it is a bit more personal than that.

Nonetheless, I am sure cut & paste errors occur.

  • I think they copy and paste one report to another and maybe forget to delete sections

  • I was diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder and social phobia at my autism assessment. Perhaps you received additional diagnoses as a result of your autism assessment?

  • Mine was sent to me to comment on before being finalised.

Definitely query anything you disagree with or don't understand. Mistakes can be made, they are human, and a misunderstanding is possible.

They may have access to your medical records so may have something you are not aware of.

They should be open to comments if made in a timely manner. So don't sit on it for months wondering.

  • I would definitely contact them with questions if you don't understand anything or need to query, they should make sure your understand it.

(Mine they forgot to attach a section, which caused a lot of confusion for me, plus they had noted a few things slightly incorrectly, which they sorted when I queried)
