Old in life but new in definition. And it's scary.

Old in life but new in definition. And it's scary. Can someone talk to me about this. How does it work here I saw there is a chat?

  • I'm recently diagnosed. In my late 50s. I found it a lot to deal with. Me being me I have been a lot of research into it and that has helped me a bit. If you are of an older generation you may have lots of negative associations with the term autistic which is something I've had to try and unpack.

Someone else on this forum suggested this book: https://www.waterstones.com/book/why-cant-i-just-enjoy-things/pierre-novellie/9781785121012 which I've found incredible useful in decrypting what my diagnosis means for me.

Chatting to people on this site has also been helpful so I'd recommend that too, but I guess the main thing is to be kind to yourself and be patient (easy for me to say I know. I'm pretty bad at these two things myself!).
