I have become too comfortable with being in the background, a real life NPC (non player characters in games), going about my business, sticking to an internal script rehearsed over a lifetime (do not put myself in potential trouble, don't say or do anything to embarrass myself and trust no one) and moving on to the next task.
And when someone interesting catches my eye I glance at them without them knowing and move on with my business.Eventually I feel as hollow and devoid of personality as the background characters in movies or games.
So, is this something you want to change?
It's who I am.
In what ways does the world prevent you from changing? (I'm not challenging you here, just trying to understand). Is it because it doesn't allow you the space or time to change in your own way?
It's something I would like to change at one time or another but I can't. The world won't let me.
That's fine, it was only that you had put "becoming too comfortable" in your post and I read that as an indication that maybe it was something you were wanting to change.
