My Son has an official diagnosis of ASC, is this the same as Autism?
The change is in process, both terms are current, but there seems to be a gradual drift towards ASC. I can't help thinking that 'disorder' is inappropriate, as autistic people are some of the most ordered people around; we have our ducks in a row, often literally.
Oh well that' me done for then! I just refered to myself and others as ASD, I wasn't aware that ASD had been superceded by ASC, although I approve of the change, as I don't see ASC as a disorder.
ASC, 'autism spectrum condition' is the current term covering all autism-related conditions. This term covers what would have once been called Asperger's syndrome, 'classic' autism and pervasive developmental disorder. The old diagnostic terminology was superseded in 2013 by the catch-all term ASC or ASD (autism spectrum disorder)
