I've noticed that if I log out of the forum and log back in (not something I always do) then the landing page is an open thread from years ago.
Hence, I believe, this is why some members are answering very old threads - because it's there in front of them and they don't notice that the thread is donkeys' years old.
How old (long) is a donkey's year?
I always thought that Desmond Dekker's song 'Israelites' - as well as 'Baked beans for breakfast' - had the line 'Shirt, them a-tear up, trousers ago'. Apparently, it is in fact, 'Shirt, them a-tear up, trousers are gone'. However, the idea of trousers being a measurement of time stuck with me. Given that I have a pair of flared jeans in my wardrobe dating back to the 1970s, the implication is that the 'trouser' might be quite a long time.
