Hi, I am currently waiting to get a referral for a diagnostic test. However I was wondering regarding having a diagnosed autism on my effectiveness of applying for a citizenship/PR. After some online reading I was met with an impression that some countries won't accept PR if you have some kind of disorder which includes autism. I was wondering if it is required to disclose it or can I choose not to, just like applying for jobs? I am curious as to what my result would be however I feel like if its going to affect my future I might as well just live with it as I have been doing.
Thanks

My understanding is that if you have a formal diagnosis then you are required to disclose it if you are applying for citizenship/PR because it is classed as a disability and many countries do not want to take on those who are likely to use the public services (NHS, benefits etc) in a significant way.
I would defer the diagnosis until your status is confirmed then you can get it.
Another thought is whether you need the diagnosis for any reason other than self interest - if it is just to understand yourself then don't get a formal diagnosis if you think it is a risk for your residency. Do a free online test to give a solid indication and learn about your autism. No need to make it official.
