I saw this on the NAS homepage. I thought I would share it here in case anyone is interested in signing. Wrongful detention of autistic children and adults occurs far too often. It has happened to me twice, and once for my sister.
Autonomistic said:This is so important too, as currently there is no help at all available in most areas and services simply do not exist. So many detentions could be avoided if people were supported and helped before they reach crisis point.
Exactly!
Thanks for sharing and I have signed.
The campaign also includes a change to force councils to provide the right community services for autistic people:
"a duty for councils to provide enough of the right community services to prevent autistic people and people with a learning disability from reaching crisis point"
This is so important too, as currently there is no help at all available in most areas and services simply do not exist. So many detentions could be avoided if people were supported and helped before they reach crisis point.
Thanks for sharing! I have signed too.
Just signed
Hopefully this will help stop all that. It's really damaging being sectioned
