Support in the workplace

Hi everyone,

I was recently diagnosed and I mentioned it to my manager - just because I needed some time to digest it. She kindly offered making changes in the way I work to make my life easier, but I'm so lost right now and don't really know what to request. I wouldn't want to miss this opportunity...

Do you have any support at work? What do you implement at work to make your life easier?

Thanks!

  • You can start a query on the ATW scheme:

    https://www.gov.uk/access-to-work

You can also ask for "reasonable adjustments" to your workplace. Obviously, it varies on what kind of work are you doing. Possible adjustments include:

    Work from home

Pauses to decompress/calm after a meltdown

A work environment less noisy or chaotic (again, if that's reasonable depending on your line of work)

That's it. The keyword is "reasonable adjustment". The employer is held responsible of doing that, providing your request is reasonable and not too expensive.
