Hi, I believe I have Autism as does my psychiatrist and my friends. I am on the NHS waiting list which could be a few years wait time. I am having help from my psychiatrist and have read some helpful books. Is it essential to get a diagnosis or should I carry on as I am as my treatment won’t change whether I get an official diagnosis or not so not sure whether to put myself through an assessment incase for some reason they say I don’t have it and it’s all in my head…..
I do not receive any benefits. As a result I am not eligible to apply for PIP despite my official assessment. I also receive state pension which also makes me ineligible. That is my understanding.
Yes, and receiving state pension negates all benefits--so tough luck on me!
I tried to apply for PIP and stopped after a mandatory recorditation as dwp thought I wasn't disabled enough. My friend got PIP for life as had cancer ages ago. My former friend awarded for 5 years. Absolutely ridiculous as was told I was getting DLA for life.
