The online community currently uses up/down voting for users to respond to posts and comments. If we are able to change this in future, would you like to keep the current up/down votes or have a different feature? Please vote in our online community poll below.

Up and Down vote cannot reflect enough of what's needed whereas reactions would allow a more accurate response
The upvote/downvote system makes it impossible to follow a conversation here which is why I rarely use the forum.
I'm one of the 74% going for reactions. Sometimes an upvote isn't right for a comment and post whereas a reaction like a hug can do so much more than I could put in to words for someone.
A hug a day keeps the depression away.
Yes please to reactions.
As with Debbie below, Thank you for reactions when posted
I don't like change. I don't like reductionist emojis.
I know that the thing I want won't happen, it never does on matters such as these......so I'm resigned to the inevitable.
Bah humbug. New-fangled nonsense for the social-media chattering classes. I'm off to whittle some wood in my rose tinted safety goggles (once I've read the safety instructions, signed up for a newsletter and 3 year extended warranty, signed the on line petition to show my support for anti-knife crime sentiment) and found an ethically dead piece of wood.

I really don’t think there should be any voting or reactions at all. My biggest problem with social media sites which have those features, and which rank users’ posts by how much attention they get, is that they foster a really brutal, competitive atmosphere that disincentivises people from interacting with one another in a reciprocal, mutually cooperative manner. I’ve had good experiences in the past with forums/messageboards which don’t have any voting system, where members simply discuss common interests as equal peers. While I have found quite a few discussions on this forum really useful (albeit mostly as a lurker), the prioritisation of “top replies” makes it feel a bit more alienating to me.
Keep it as it is
A range of reactions would be ideal. I don't think the up or down do much use really. I also don't like the Top Replies, that just gets in the way.
Reactions
Reaction emojis are used most frequently
I don't mind positive reactions or thumbs up but personnally find it deeply upsetting to receive a thumbs down. I struggle no end with posting online due to worries about peoples reactions and receiving a negative reaction / disapproval can send me into a melt down.
You need to log in to vote
Might want to mention that you have to be logged in to vote. Came here from the email and, frustratingly, that meant it showed me the result and didn’t let me vote until I realised I should try logging in first. That will warp your results as there is a reason we don’t show a result until after you have voted (or voting is closed)
The poll is badly set up because if you vote for ‘introduce reactions’ the results imply that you don’t want to keep the up and downvote buttons. Maybe I want both?!
It won’t let me vote. I agree that a thank you feature would be good. And think all possible reactions, including downvote, are useful to have. Thanks!
Are there going to be other improvements? At the moment it is really hard to find new replies in long threads so some things get missed, even direct replies to my own posts. I just get a notification when there is a new post in a thread, but if there is more than one then it can be hard to find all the posts with a purple line, especially when some bits are randomly hidden. There are other functionality issues but I think this might be the most annoying.
I think having a few more reactions would be a good idea. One forum I'm on added some more reaction options last year as part of a major update, and it's gone down pretty well.
Unsure.
I still want a vote down/disagree option. Why isn’t there a thanks option?

Haha, me too!
