I'll start:
A long time ago when this was the keep to a great castle a small boy dropped an acorn out of his pocket whilst reachng for a handhkerchief...

I've had some luck saving a suitably re-sized (smaller then I take 'em) image to the desktop, minmise this window mid reply, then drag the image off the desktop into the middle of my text like this...
Voila!
Image where I want it, and no bloody annoying resizing form thingy to deal with...
