No, but at least we all get to see the extremes of both sides of the political divide. I get my news from an entirely independant team  who are committed to delivering non-partisan, professional journalism. Breaking Points with Krystal and Saagar. It's a fearless anti-establishment Youtube show and podcast with contributors from across the political divide. Britain's got a new TV network. The new British network has vowed to fight "cancel culture" and reflect voices not heard in the partisan mainstream media and state-controlled BBC. A spokesperson for GB News said its aim was to "puncture the pomposity of our elites in politics, business, media and academia and expose their growing promotion of cancel culture for the threat to free speech and democracy that it is".

Cancel Culture is the term given to left-wing and left-leaning attempts at suppressing of free expression and political diversity by permanently shaming and ostracising individuals who threaten their political and social orthodoxy.

  • That maybe the case or not, but there is no getting away from the fact that you are knowingly stirring=up things here for self-attention. You have absolutely no interest or care about  the topics you discuss. You know this yourself.

  • yes they are quite good at being in the middle

  • why cant you say "so what?" to "they were socialists" .... why do you have to gate keep socialism? do you want to make excuses for nazism to return again under the same guise?

anyway he also missed out they was anti colonial too and used anti-colonial ideas because all their future enemies were imperial nations with colonies so it made sense for them to be anti-colonial. you know they promsied the native americans if they rose up or them they would help them kick out the europeans and give them america back? .... you know they promised similar things to the scottish too and the SNP mysteriously was created at the time hitler was subverting nations for his future plans?

not that it all matters anyway, "so what" is literally a good response. denial isnt a good response though. denying things from that period often becomes a illegal act lol

and how was the billionaires? .... do you know history? .... they got to power through activism.... they wasnt millionaires, not a single person in germany was because germany was in hyper inflation at the time and money was worthless and people were dying of starvation on the streets, this got hitler his opportunity through activism to promise to fix it.... and you know how he fixed that? .... by diplomatically force annexing neighboring countries in which upon annexation he stole the wealth of those countries to fix germanys economic problems.... so yes, he did infact steal and confiscate wealth to fix germanys problems... and yes, thats very socialist of him to do lol socialism is all about stealing others wealth to fix your problems.... even his idea of fair distribution of land was a socialist idea of wealth redistribution.... how else do you think these violent ideas of socialists such as redistribution of wealth would work? ....those are violent ideas that result in stealing and war...

  • Hahaha,

    1. The *** were ardent socialists (hence the term "National socialism").

    Only in your head.

    ]

    2. They believed in free health care and guaranteed jobs.

They also belivedd in Santa and many other fantasies.

    3. They confiscated inherited wealth and spent vast sums on public education.

Did they really ? All far-right enterprises are funded by millionaires and billionaires. The N@tzis were no different.

    4. They purged the church from public policy, promoted a new form of pagan spirituality.

    Whatever.

    5. They *** declared war on smoking, supported abortion, euthanasia, and gun control.

With the support of of many other ruthless, right-wing ideologies, including UK at the time.

    6. They loathed the free market, provided generous pensions for the elderly.

Utter Bollicks 1 They made their own rules as and when it suited and invaded countries willy nilly, trying to create their own empire.

    7. They maintained a strict racial quota system in their universities--where campus speech codes were all the rage.

Racial and immigration tactics are strategies of the the right. Period.

    8. They led the world in organic farming and alternative medicine.

Yeah, but they started murdering everyone too.

    9. Hitler was a strict vegetarian.

    So what ?

    10. Himmler was an animal rights activist.

    So what ?

  • to the mods that seem to be covering up the fact the *** were socialists.... why do you do that? .... you have no evidence otherwise and it makes you look like your covering up nazism of your own and trying to desperately fight for nazism to come back and get another go at it.... the *** were socialist, it was in their name and they wanted to topple capitalism because they attributed it to a people they hated that they went against.... why do you have to defend socialism like that? ..... i mean just because one person did bad in its name doesnt mean its all bad so why try gatekeep it and ignore real history which only makes you become like some sort of holocaust denier?

whatever, put me on your list and kill me when the time to take your mask off comes.... i dont care, i see through your mask. a true socialist wouldnt care that the *** were socialist, a nazi socialist who wants to bring nazism back would do though as they desperately want to come back under cover yet again.

they also hated colonialism too and planned to kick the europeans out of america and give the americas back to the natives. same with parts of africa aside from having to make exceptions for their ally italy whom they didnt even respect but had to tolerate to use as a ally/useful idiot for their goals. this anti-colonialism is very much the same attitude of the modern day socialists. everything comes together and is very clear when you piece it all together. but im not gonna argue it, i said enough, open your own eyes, or if your willingly a nazi like i said just put my name down on your list of people you will wipe out when your guys make their move...

  • I don't really see the point in that statement, do you mean that all of these things were fought for by left leaning people or just people who saw things in the world that were wrong and though they should try and do something about it?

Yes, do you have a different version of history ?

  • No. It hasn't. Never had any argument about that.

  • I have no argument with any of this!

The wonder of this is that some people apparently do.

  • So you keep saying. They would rather pull their forelocks and curtsey to the landed gentry. Like they really have the best interests of the wonderful working class at heart.

  • Unless you learn to face your own shadows, Turtle, you will continue to see them in others, because the world outside you is only a reflection of the world inside you.

  • That would be Edward Health, the Conservative Prime Minister? Whose Government took us into the EU despite ferocious opposition from the then Labour Party?

That's correct. It's quite ironic that those who took us in, were those who took us out .... but for none of the reasons why they took us in. They were different times. Politics can change in one minute  though it takes their supporters a lifetime or more.

If you were generally interested in the subject, instead of trying to score points, that would be much better. It would be much better for the forum and everyone else involved.  Looking up Wikipedia or the internet does not make you an intellectual or specialist on any subject.

It doesn't matter how many times you say Hitler and fascism was connected to Socialism and you wish to pursue that line, it still does not make it true. Hitler murdered Socialists & Communists along with anyone else who would oppose him. This is not controversial. These are facts.

The 1970's was a very different world than which we live today. Two, so called, superpowers were dominating the world stage - The Soviet Union and the US and their allies.

Before WWII it was everyman for themselves in the global chess game, i.e empires,  Royalty.  dictatorships etc and other countries ruled by religious dogma and other imaginations of the ego.

There were many things that changed the world in that era but not many of them were right-wing things if you are talking about human progress.

In all, you , if you had a conscience (everyone ) would never vote conserc=vative  ever again.

The rest is not great either, but that is reality.

  • The interesting thing with the BBC is that many right-wing people think it's left-wing and many left-wing people think it's right-wing.

  • If you're going to use other countries as a comparison, you need to first make sure your facts are accurate, Turtle.

Germans (only legal residents) are entitled to free “medically necessary” public healthcare, which is funded by social security contributions. However, citizens must still have either state or private health insurance, covering at least hospital and outpatient medical treatment and pregnancy.

  • There are some points, young I Sperg that I have to agree with.

Britain, under the guidance of 'That Woman' stopped making stuff to sell and started buying and selling old houses. I have never understood how that's an exchangeable product, OK yes a house upgraded is worth more than a clapped out one, but this is fashion, ripping out the green bath and putting an uncomfortable square one in it's place. Taking out the sad looking beige carpet and putting sadder grey carpet down. Real riches for those that have the cash to buy houses at auction.

The Tories are still selling off the jewels, Cadbury's Boots Morrisons Asda, all getting flogged off to outside owners who can't be bothered to pay their taxes or give their staff a decent contract.

Thatcher did a lot to destroy this country and Blair too.

I do think you're right that the planet is being divided, in readiness of conquering I have no doubt, by is it Russia, China or Azerbaijan? The Arab spring fired by FB, Trump was divisive, so was Brexit and Boris and a Scottish independence referendum, all ways to divide the people and divert their attention.

What from? Who is rubbing their hands together giggling like an undertaker at a train crash?

  • The ones that MP Jeremy Corbyn also talked about during the 1970's,1980's, 1990's, 2000's...

  • Blair was new Labour rebranded to get the billionaires to back him and the tabloids did. New Labour was Thatcherism Lite. He destroyed the working class's faith in the party, and it's not recovered.

  • That would be Edward Health, the Conservative Prime Minister? Whose Government took us into the EU despite ferocious opposition from the then Labour Party?

Turtle, just so you have a better historical perspective on the politics of European Union: here is Margaret Thatcher leading the Yes campaign for the Conservatives in 1975. Whilst at the same time, the old-time socialists were opposed to the union right up until the New Labour era.

Turtle, the trouble with viewing everything through such a narrow partisan lens of hatred for the other side, is that you stupidly find yourself defending positions and taking stances on issues NOT because of any real conviction, but simply because it is the opposite to what the other side.

Not only is it immature, but it's tiresome, lazy and in many cases a cancerous blight on a healthy democracy and makes you an easy target for manipulation and control.

"I'll tell you once, I won't tell you twice. You'd better wise up Janet Weiss.
Your apple pie don't taste too nice. You'd better wise up, Janet Wise."

    - Frank-N-Furter, The Rocky Horror Show, 1973)

  • The reasons why conservatives were against universal education prior to the Butler Act was because they didn't want the average Joe exercising or developing their brain, thus knowing how the system, at the time, worked. In other words, they didn't want the plebs to know they were plebs.

to be fair i can see why anyone would be against the public education system.... its useless... it doesnt teach, it cant even control the classes as the students are always rioting. there is no learning in our current public education system, no discipline. no control. and the teachers are very biased and cowardly and reward the popular trash students that cause all the trouble by giving them ramped up grades they didnt even earn when they can barely even read or write to primary school levels.

And that is how they'd like to keep it........ unless of course you are paying for private education, where profits can be made and you create an elitist, upper-class establishment who go to ' the best schools ' and go on to fill all the most important or lucrative positions in society.  It is based largely on selfishness & childishness.
