advice on warm light bulbs - all mine are probably bright white...

i've got cfl's, and some led lights... flourescents........... these are all BRIGHT WHITE. does anyone know of any low energy alternatives for these BRIGHT WHITE bulbs? they're like a LOUD NOISE.

sorry for all the shouting, but that's how the lights feel to me. or do people use those energy inefficient incandescents?

i'm thinking of buying colored paper, to shield my light bulbs. currently, i use white paper (because that's what i have).

tysm! happy easter, for those of you so inclined. for those not so inclined, happy sunday, or is it passover on sunday?

  • Wow, man, what a price you have. I understand you can not save on this, but why overpay such a lot? I recently came across the search for a good lantern for my son because he went camping at night, and I know that the light scares away animals, so I needed the brightest and highest quality.

  • you need some kind of shade for lightbulb to difuse the light. I found out that matt transparent white plastic works best, I use one like this in bedroom

smaller one has strong LED bulb that is good for reading in bed

I feel like I'm being blinded even by a flame of a candle, like that light is drilling through my eyes into my brain, I can't look in that direction if it's not shaded or further than 5m

  • I had no idea there were different kinds of light bulbs. This might be a stupid question but are there any that are less bright? By that i dont mean ones that make the room less bright, I need a bright room or i get depressed. I mean ones that dont blind you with white light when you look at them. I get migranes and a bad sensory overload from the normal ones

  • Are you a BOT? Mods is this a BOT?

  • I agree with that conclusion, white will keep you up longer than yellow

or it can go to extremes as it often happens with us as I've just found out for myself

I recently bought LED Corn Bulbs, they come in two versions: yellow-warm or white-cold

I had to remove white from bedroom because I coulldn't even sit and relax, I can have it in a kitchen only, everywhere else I use yellow

  • I strongly prefer the bright white version. When I moved into my flat it had warm white and I was literally falling asleep by 5pm in winter. The bright white makes it much easier to stay up until 7-8pm.

Both are available. On Amazon you just toggle between warm or bright/cool on the product page.

  • I avoid Warm White. It reminds me of winter indoors, depression and too much heavy sentimentality. Cool White puts me in a more positive frame of mind. (It is even a bit more like winter outdoors, making the most of the weather.)

  • one of my special topics! Never buy a bulb which is cool. There are really amazing LEDs now with warm colour temperature - 3000k or more. Pay attention to lumens too, things over 330 will probably be too bright. I tend to aim for 3000k, 330lm which is normally 3-4watts and also very low power consumption.

  • i've never heard of smart bulbs... i'm looking into it.............

  • ty for the video ---- helpful, altho does this guy have asd? he seems super obsessive and repetitive....

  • I use incandescents and halogens. Literally cannot stand LEDs - CFLs and fluorescence are incredibly noisy! how do you cope. When I was younger I worked the lighting booth at my school theatre. I've thought about applying proper lighting and diffusion gels to LEDs should need be. A spectrum of colour can shine a variation of white which is easier on the eye. I do have night time flashlights with red and green. One flashlight has 4 colours including blue which is great for reading maps, so using the red, green and blue together is a good alternative in the evening to a solid white or even solid yellow.

  • I have warm white light bulbs, they have more of a yellow tinge than the bright white ones. Have you considered buying smart lightbulbs? You can set the tone and brightness you want on some

  • Many LED lights have the temperature of the light written on the packaging.  You can choose warm, cold etc.

  • There are some LEDs bulbs that advertise themselves as warm light. This video may help www.youtube.com/watch
