Quirky

I need to start embracing my quirkinesses and my somewhat strange sense of humour and to those that don’t get it or are offended by it then it’s their problem not mine.

I need to free the weird, inappropriate or not, trying to be “normal” is exhausting.

20+ years of masking though is a very hard to break habit!

  • I figured out very early on that people accept quirky extroverts but quirky introverts are deemed to be a legitimate target for bullies.

I developed a big, fake personality to get by.     It served me well for over 30 years.  Smiley

  • You must be very tired keeping up the facade, I don’t want too pretend to be someone else to try and fit in their world anymore it’s time to be me and live how in my world, people can either except the or F off lol.

...Thank You for This. This another thing which I did not know as a child and so I was "robbed of My 'Yoof'... " (!)

I saw this Thread but had no idea how to reply to it, until You Posted (always so happy & stretchy!). I thought that the "I need to start embarrassing my quirkinesses" was a typo for "I need to start embracing my quirkiness". I embraced My own "quirks" via offering aggressive-seeming attitude: e.g. "Yes, I am not like You - deal with it!"... Of course this resulted in My having to 'watch My Back' a lot (!), but for Myself it is a lot less stressful than being afraid and constantly trying to "fit in". Not sure what else to say here now, though... Good Luck, All!
