Really struggled with office noise today. For most of the day I could count on there being at least three other loud conversations going on all within a 10m radius of my desk (open office about 200m long!). Even Flare Audio Isolate plugs were no defence, & music through PowerBeats needed to be too loud to be safe & became a distraction itself. Nearing the end of the day now but it's worn me out, I'm tetchy and can't wait to get home despite actually enjoying the content of my work. White noise through PowerBeats is finally masking it but without that it's like a scene from a movie when someone goes insane and the echo-y voices get louder and louder and more echo-y.

I struggle with this too, and use Bose QC20s. Haven't tried anything else. They're really good.
Hi Tintal, just wanted to come back to this thread to say thanks for the recommendation - I'm in the office now with a pair of QC20s and some quiet music playing, and although there are people around their words aren't tumbling into my ears like floodwater down a drain.
I had looked at noise cancelling tech before but couldn't choose, and wasn't impressed with any over-ear ones at the demo stand in the shop, so it was really helpful to get a recommendation.
They have taken some getting used to as initially it was like all of the air was being sucked out of my ears, or like I'd been swimming and my ears were full of water. But this is easing now and it's so worth it!
Thanks tintal, yes I've considered noise cancelling but ordinarily my Flare Audio Isolate or Powerbeats have been enough. Also noise cancellers don't work for telephone conferences (they would for my ears, but not for the ears of people at the other end picking up noise from my office). They are still on my "to try" list though :-)
