In-Ear Headphones for Noise Cancelling

Just wanted to say hi and thanks. This five year comment of yours opened up a whole new world. Actually took it a step further and discovered the accessibility sounds in the apple phone (took me a while, probably the whole world knows about them...) and it was your comment in an obscure google search that led me there.

It also took me while and post two mild burnouts to discover that I have hyperacousis and tinnitus and some other elements that echo autism. It was the phone sounds of colleagues in the open space that broke me down that led me down this journey of self discovery. I also seem to be sensitive to too much visual movement around me when I work. If there is any other info you'd like to share, feel free.

I can vouch for "Bose QuietComfort® 20 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones". Note that they make two different versions - one for Apple, the other for Android/Samsung (they use different control signals to start or stop music or answer a phone call). The QC20's are just loose, rather than being attached to an over-the-head thing that the QC-30's have.

However, you can use them just with the plug loose in your pocket, so it looks like you're listening to music, but actually are just cancelling background noise.

At work I use a Plantronics NC wireless headset plugged into the office phone, which also works well.  For my office phone at home I did try a Sennheiser DW Pro 2 & DW30, which was so comfortable and better at noise cancelling- but I just couldn't get it to work with the Samsung SMT-i6021 handset.  I still have it sitting behind me in a box, and will probably Ebay it at some point..

I have hyperacusis and pulsatile tinnitus and have a wearable white noise generator. I also have recorded an online white noise onto a MP3 player and have a pillow speaker to play it through

plus i don't really like plugs etc in my ears they make me itch

that's probably way cheaper but im one of those that turns my phone off when i go to bed so i don't get email text notifications etc

Personally I use an app called “Simply Rain” for my iPhone, which has a similar effect

i know this is a bit off topic re noise cancelling headphones / ear phones whilst out and about just thought i would tell you about a little gadget i bought that's prooved invaluable to me its called Electrofan and its basically a white noise machine that also has sounds like a fan would make it has different preset sounds and volumes i use it at night next to my bed and it drowns out traffic and neighbours noise and i couldn't sleep without it it is a bit expensive but it's brilliant and has changed my sleep pattern totally link to buy below

I use in-ear Bose noise cancelling earphones and they are they best thing I have ever brought myself. I will admit I am on my second pair, but that was my fault and not theirs, the cable got caught in something and damaged.

Hi guys, I thought I would update you on my investigations.  I have been trying various ear plugs, some are powered with noise cancelling and some are just ear plugs.  

I tried Vibes, ( http://www.discovervibes.com/our-products/ ) as these have been recommended for autism, although they are virtually invisible once you have them in, I did not find them that good, they were also a little uncomfortable.

I do own some fantastic Bose Quiet Control 30's and they are the best I have ever had, although they are full size headphones, so a little bulky.

I have recently received my Quiet On ear plugs and they are rather good.  They are very discreet and noise cancelling.  The block the sound really well.  They do not connect through your phone and do not play music etc.  They are just for noise cancelling.  So for now, these are my favorites.
