I'm 24 and looking to meet some friends :)

Hello, I am Hope and I am 24 years old, on my way to 25 this December. I have just been diagnosed with Autism no more than a month ago now. Life can be a battle every day with feeling frustration, anger, feeling low and many more emotions. I also have throughout my life felt very lonely, I have never kept the same friend ever since way back as play school. I have been abandoned every time without fail. Sometimes I have had to put an end to a friendship for the sake of my mental health, but for the most part they have left me. I really hope to find a friend or friends who are genuine and can relate to me and my life and who will genuinely want to hang out with me. Now that I finally feel I have found my place in the world though getting my diagnosis, maybe now through this forum, I might just meet the right friend/friends.

  • I wont say 'welcome to this forum' because you've posted here before, but maybe 'welcome back'

Please don't take this wrong, but using a personal picture for your profile isn't generally a good idea (because anyone can see this forum & contents).   Wait until you have established some kind of rapport with people before disclosing anything - it isn't a criticism.

Having autism can be a lonely & isolating thing.  Sometimes we feel that we can cope, yet at other times we feel lonely even in a room full of people.  It is hard to meet and sustain relationships with people who think along the same lines, when the majority don't.

Many people join this forum, but the trick, I feel, is to hang around for a while.  A lot get bored & move on, or get a bit frustrated when the forum gets clunky.  If you persist, you can establish some good conversations & interactions with people, but it takes time to get to know them !

    Nice talking to you.
