Hi everyone, I am interested to know how I am meant to get my 10 year old out of the house. I get a lot of very unhelpful answers from well meaning but ignorant people and actually I am not trusting of a lot of people in a position of power due to their obvious lack of understanding about what autism means for different people. So obviously going out of the house is by no means a priority and my question is based purely on the fact that my child has to have some teeth removed at hospital and I can not get them there as they are so so anxious! I can not even get them to our local dentist and clearly it is becoming a more urgent situation as I am concerned about their health. My child is on the list for the special dentist to do a home visit which could take up to a year and this would not be a solution anyway as teeth removal can't be done at home. The special dentist said if I am concerned that my child has an infection then they can prescribe antibiotics over the phone which is a massive relief, my gp says she could refer us to CAMHS but I would have to physically get my child to see someone (the same issue we're currently facing) and what would they do anyway, prescribe anti anxiety pills? I am not against medication but again how would I get my child there!? I don't trust a lot of these professionals as I previously said and there is also so much information about different help lines etc that I don't have a clue where to turn or who to trust. I suppose I have kind of answered my own question in many ways and I suppose what I'm really saying is that I feel alone and find it so hard to trust anyone in a professional capacity with my child's mental health, what have you done when having to get your child to important medical appointments and they were too anxious and scared to go?? . Please could anyone tell me they understand or relate? Thank you very much
