I wondered do books alone help with parenting children with ASC or is it also helpful to use other forms of information and advice?

Books are a great place to start but they cannot cover every issue in enough depth for what you may need, so that is where a forum like this one is great to get input from others who have been down those same dark paths and can help illuminate the way.
Therapists with experience are another great resource, but they are not cheap and I think are best used for very targetted approaches to issues.
A therapist is a great idea. There are autism specialists out there but not easy to find, especially for adults but I think there are more for kids. Definitely get some books as well, it can only help and I know there's videos online to help with this as well.
