Sensory. Hates loud noises but loves loud music

Does anyone else like loud music?

My daughter doesn't like loud noises, like fireworks, people talking and all that kind of stuff. But she loves loud music. I don't like it much because it hurts my ears, she turns it up loud, so she can listen to it louder when I'm out.

Yesterday, she and her sister turned the music up full volume on our Alexa, which I dread to know how loud that is. She has been up all night listening to music so I wish teachers luck today, lol. She said it was a bit quiet for her on full volume and needed it louder. She listens to a lot of different types of music, quite a lot, it is drum and bass or EDM music so the bass makes it louder.

She also has the same 4 songs on repeat all day. At the moment, she is listening to GDFR by Flo Rida, Tsunami (Jump) by Tinie Tempah and Thr33 6ix 5ive by HoneyLuv, also Fire by Kasabian, (our family favourite to go to).

  • I agree, when it is our own I love it but with someone else's its not the best, especially when you don't know or like the song.

  • Love MY OWN LOUD MUSIC -  i think thats the difference, when its our own we are OK.

  • I'm listening to the fortieth anniversary Reissue of Pornography by The Cure, now. It came in the post today.

  • I was quite young when it came out but my aunt and uncle are only 5 ish years older than me so we played with them until we were old enough to manage on our own. also started on Amiga. I’m soooo excited for the new one that Ron Gilbert is working on

  • Omg what a great name Guybrush I used to love playing Monkey Island on the old Commodore Amiga 500. I spent hours playing that game. I take it your an older gamer who enjoyed it too?

  • I'm autistic and I love loud music as it takes me away from the now and blocks everything out and I also hate noise from other sources.

Don't quote me on it but I'm guessing it's a common thing amongst us?

  • I love loud music; good old fashioned Indie.

  • Thank you. I'm making sure she's careful. She doesn't use headphones or when she does, it's a lot quieter.

  • I love loud music, especially at that age, then I reached a point where increased volume didn’t improve the clarity. Turns out I was very slightly deaf though (and now mild-moderately deaf) she’ll need to be careful if she listens to it so loud that she gets tinnitus afterwards ( especially through headphones)
