Have you begun Christmas prep? (C*****mas for those who dislike this holiday)

[Please if you don't enjoy Christmas, do not respond to this thread - I want to keep it joyous for those who do!].

Anyone started preparing for Ch****mas? Last week I made mincemeat. This week is apricot chutney, and next caramalized onion chutney. One item a week works nicely, finishing on Ch****mas eve with sausage rolls. It's more manageable within the weekly budget I set myself and a nice tracker as the weeks go forward. How do you plan your eats? Any new ideas? What are your favourites for this holiday especially things you only make, or buy, at this time of year?

  • Thank you for clarifying the starred out text.

I have seen the term ‘holiday’ used as a substitute. I call celebrations and occasions marked by all religious faiths what they are. Christmas, Eid, Ross Hashanah, Imbolc etc.

I haven’t made any plans for Christmas. I will decide what to eat and buy nearer the time.

    Enjoy your preparationsBlush

  • Oh dear - it's just a thread to chat about Christmas preparations! I did a similar thread last year and some people got het about the 'C' word - people who dislike the idea of this name for a December celebration. That's all!

So, are you making anything special in the way of food, drink or presents?

  • as I try to remain in the moment with regard to seasons until the outside intrudes on my state.

    Nicely put.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the lovely season of 'mists and mellow fruitfulness'.

  • The bit that is most confusing for me is (C*****mas for those who dislike this holiday), mainly because it’s making a statement in the title which seemed to suggest it’s a thread for those who do and don’t like Christmas.  But yes, I still don’t understand why the letters have been starred out.

Yes, do start a thread for those of us who don’t like Christmas. I mightn’t post in it for a bit as I try to remain in the moment with regard to seasons until the outside intrudes on my state. I dare say that will happen today as I’ll be in a garden centre where there are sure to be big displays of Christmas goods.

  • I just want to understand as I’m beginning to think my mind has gone astray.

No, I don't think it has.

I find it confusing too but I think that the thread is only for those people who enjoy Christmas.

So, I may start a thread for those of us who don't!  :-)

With regard to the 'staring out' of the letters in 'Christmas' I don't understand why this has been done.

    Anyway, Marianne, enjoy your thread.

  • I’m even more confused now. No matter how I read your OP and your reply here, I can’t get the title to mean anything other than it’s a post for people who like and for those who dislike Christmas.

I think you are starring out Christmas for those who aren’t Christians? If I’m incorrect sorry. I’m not sure obliteration of letters would be helpful?  I just want to understand as I’m beginning to think my mind has gone astray.
