I was going to respond to the 'what are you currently watching' thread, but there's a bit of weekend fun here. 'Secrets of the Royal Servants' [channel 5] is not on playback but should be soon. This docu was tamer than I hoped, but two facts about King Charles were revealed: how he likes his Valet to fold his socks and underpants. 

I like to fold my knickers in half [gusset up toward waistband], then left to centre line, then right to centre line, leaving a square shape. Socks are flattened [if recalcitrant, a rubber hammer helps!] then folded in half, toe to ankle. Does your spouse do this small task or do you? How do you like yours folded, if at all? If you could afford it, would you employ someone to fold your underwear?

  • My mother-in-law used to iron everything, including pants and socks, but any hope from my husband I was going to do that was soon dashed. (I try not to be rude and disturb the ironing board from it's peaceful slumber by the fridge)

    I fold pants like you, and boxers were just in half, until recently it's now a tri fold, to fit in the drawer better, so they can stack on the side.

    Socks, I adopted my husband's style - fold one completely over the other, like a little sock package. 

    Who does it? We often fold clothes while watching a light tv programme at night, a bit of a relax while still getting a job done, though he'll often do it on his own if I'm tired and had to go to bed early.

    I wouldn't hire anyone to do it, that would be mortifying.

    An old colleague of mine used to iron shoelaces. I don't even iron bedsheets.
